The Meeting was called to order by the Chairman with all
Members present.
The Term Accountant presented Warrant #28 amounting to
~6,132.13, the same was voted to be paid as read.
Mr. Eugene F. Burgess was appointed a Special Police to
serve without pay. He also was granted permission to carry
a revolver.
A commmnication was received from Mr. Tice relative to
Cavendish Park. Voted to refer same to the County Commissioner~
and ask the Town Coomsel's advice on the progress of this case
in the Courts as voted at the annual Town }deeting.
~iss Henry presented her findings on Transient Vendors,
and Mr. Charles S. Glidden Sealer of Weights and Measures dis-
cussed with the Board the collecting of fees, and the Board
expressed a desire to continue the way that he was going, and
he was conm~ended for his good work.
The Straight Vd~arf Theatre was ~ran~ed a Soft Drird~ Licens~
A very unsatisfactory reply was received from i.[r. itaas
of the Stemmboat Company relative to the change in Service.
A co~mmunication was read from Marcus Ramsdell complaining
about the hours set for the Welfare Dispenser and investigator.
This matter was referred to.the Board of Public Welfare.
A communication was received from the Civic League rela-
tive to the distributing of trash on outlying roads, the same
was taken under advisement.
Miss Wenr~ presented the findings on rooming houses
This was presented without any request from the Board, and it
was voted that the s~m~e be taken under advisement.
Rent was received from the Selective Service Offices.
'A complaint wa.s received'from Mr. Statler on ldain Street
relative to pigeons, the same was taken under advisement·
Notice was received that the Public Works Department
hearing would be held Wednesday Evening July 29 at 8

Nr. Ge6rge Lake Chairman of the Rationing Board met ~ith
the Selectmen to discuss the matter of eXpenses~for that Board,
and it was voted to pay any expenses incurred from the Select-
men's Account.
Agnes Cahoon was gr~nted permission to keep pigs and hens.
Sidney Thurston, Jr. was granted permission to keep hens.
Report of the Police Department was received and placed'on
file.

A periodic statement from the Town Accountant was received. Statement

Board
I,~iss Caroline Roberts was appointed as L[atron of the
Women's Comfort Station at Sconse~.
The Policeman's Association was granted permission to
hold their annual Ball July 30 at the Yacht Club.
Robert Congdon and Richard Porter were granted permission
to hold Public Dances at the ~acht Club Friday Evenings.
The matter of the work to be done on the Polpis Road was
discussed and it was voted to take this matter up at the Public
Works Department Hearing, and requested I~Ir. Ring and Lir. Tice t,
be present.

A Soft Drink License was granted to ],irs. Henry Coffin.
Philio C. I,iurray, Manual Joseph and Jehu L. Hardy were
appointed as Special Police to serve without pay.-
