HomeMy WebLinkAbout1942-06-11Meeting held June 11, 1942. The Meeting was ~called to order by the ChaiEnan with all kemoers present. The Tov~ AccoUntant presented Warrant #B3 amounting to $10,067.06. The same was voted to be paid as read. An application was received for the renewal of the Innholder' License for the Chanticleer Inn. The same was granted. An application was received for a renewal of Spouter Inn Innholder's License. The same was granted. Stewart Chadwick was granted permission to keep a pig. The Nantucket Grange was granted permission to conduct a dance Saturday July 4th. Mrs. Jeremiah Tov~ill was granted a Common Victuallerts and Soft Drink License at the Tacht Club. Clement H. Reynolds was granted a Cormnon Victu~ller's and Innholder's License. Anchor Inn was granted an Innholder~s License. The Beech'House was g~anted an Innholder's and Entertainment License. A co~Eunication was received from the Division of Water ways referring to letter pertaining to Hither Creek and Bridge to the proper Department, It was voted that bids will be received for the lease of the Municipal Bathing Beach on or before Thursday June 18, 1942 at 7:30 P~. The Board reserved the right to reject any and all bids. It was voted to request ~he Finance Commitgee to transfer SB~0~00 for the Hammond Catch Basin. ~r. Pease'was authorized to'purchase ~0 tons 'of coal from t~e Island Service and ~0 tons of coal from Killen Brothers for Island Home. Col. Praeger, Nelson 0. Du~am, John Blazer and Mr. Tarvis met ~th the Board of Selectmen relative to the Mosquito Control. A report of State Inspector Wales was read and some of the daily reports of the local Inspector. Col. Praeger reported that he was going to try to secure Frederick Smith as Cha~rmmn of the Committe~ and the Board of Selectmen were favorable to this. MEETING INN H. LIC. CHANT. PIG PER. PER. He also mentioned the matter of cleaning the wtn- 'dows'in the Tovm Building. Approval was received for this[work by Mr. Glidden, Mr. Hardy and Mr. Coleman. ,. It was voted to Send a letter to the Fish Warden instructing 'him to plant 5 bushels of scallop seed and 10 bushels of quahaug seed at once in Sachetcha Pond. It was the opinion of the Board that he should take a little more interest in his work. It was voted to set clean-up week for J~e 29 and to place a notice in the local paper informing the public, also informing them that any persons unable to pay for removal of rubbish call the Superintendent of Streets Tice. The Board of Selectmen voted to request the ~eferrment of~the Secretary of Mother's Aid, of 01d Age Assistance, and Aid to Dependent Children, of his knowledge of the work and the almost of Mod. Window Cleaning Tovm Bldg. Scallop and Qua. Seed Sach. Pond. Cleanlup Week. Rub. Rem.' Deferrmenb of Sec. impossibility of securing anyone to fill his place i~J.~.ediately. It was voted to send a letter to the Police Department in- forming them that it Was the wish of the Board that the Sidewalk benches be left as is. The Meeting adjourned at 9:50 PM.
