The Meeting was 'called to order with Soverino, Smith, MEETING
Hardy, and Glidden present.
The Term Accountant presented Warrant #20 amgunting to WARRANT

A communication was received from Mrs. C. P. Hills, and COMPLAINT

The Meeting vJas called to order with ail members present.

$14, 458. 68 . The same was voted to be paid as read.
The application of Clement H. Reynolds for renewal of his
All Alcoholic Common Victualler's License having been adver-
tised the required~ period of time was open for discussion.
Those present were Mr. Clement H. Reynolds, Mr. Gardner Russell
Miss Gra~e Henry, Mrs. Cunningh~m, Er. Reg~n Hughston, and the
Chief of Police . Mr. Gardner Russell spoke £or Mr. ReYnolds.
The Chief of Police testified thm~t he had never found it a
noisy, and Mr. Reynolds spoke in his ova~ behalf. ~ Miss Henry
presented complaints for those petitioners objecting to the
granbing of the license. Mr. Hughston and Mrs. Cunningham
also spoke against the granting of the license (See attached
Testimony) It was voted to 66ntinue the hearing and ~ccept
the brief of Miss Henry at the meeting to be held Friday,
~ay 29 at V:30.
The Sankaty Head Golf Club was granted a renewal of their
Club Alcoholic Beverage License.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ludwig made application for renewal of her
Innholder's All Alcoholic Beverage License for t~e ~!~ite
Elephant. Voted to take the regular course as prescribed by
law.
Mr. John Gordon MacDonald was granted a renewal of his
Conm~on Victualler's License.
Linda Erey, Siasconset was granted a'~en~wal of her
Conm~on Victualler's License~.
An invitation from James H. Wood, Commander of the Grand~
Army for the Board to participate in the Memorial Day Exercises
the Board accepted with thanks.
The sum of $40.00 was received from the Selective Service
for the rent of~the office. Renewal of the' lease of the
Selective Service was voted to be signed.

Investigator of Public Welfare to take employment during the
summer as long as his work was done in the position·
Approval was received by the A B C of the Innholder's
Alcoholic Beverage License for the Mad~Hatter~.
A c~Unication was received from the Public Works De-
partment ~statin~'that an application had been made for
priority rights for asphalt for the Chapter 90 work on· the
Polpis Road, and that the ~5,000.00~'from the State would be

The Chief of Police was granted permission to attend the
Conferences in Bosto~ of the Coordinators as requeste5 by the
Governor to be held June 1st, 1942 at ll AM in the State House
Permission was granted to Charles Thurston to cut and
have the grass from the Winthrop Coffin~Park.
Mr. Simon Kaufman's application for permission to play
a'music box Sundays from 5 to ll was granted if the same
could be controlled and run at a very low tone.
Joe Mello was granted permission to keep pigs at his
property on Union Street. ..
Reported that one of the 3 mile buoys were adrift, and
Mr. Glidden reported that Mr. Winslow would check on the same.
The Meeting adjourned at 9:35.

i£ter accePting a Brief submitted by Miss.Henry of the
ReYnold's Case the Board voted to grant the'License of the
01d SConset Inn subject to the approval of the A B'C
Commission.
The Board ~hen discussed the traffic regulations. The
Chief of Police recommended that they do away with orange,
Union , and Pearl and Liberty Streets as one way Streets
for the duration. Sergeant Chadwick expressed his Opinion
that for s~fety s~ke'keep as is. Sergeant La Prade ex-
pressed the same sentiment'. The matter was tabled.
The chief of Police recommended the removal of the
U Turn' sign on Main street. ~
The Board agreed to check on the all night parking and
tabled all for the next meeting.
