The meeting was called to order by the Chairman with all
members present.
The Tov~n Accountant was present v~th Warrant-/~8, amounting
to ~ .
~'7,452 00. The stone was voted to be. paid as read.
A connnunication was received 'from George M. Poland with the
question to the Board to recommend parole of George A. Lewis from
the Ho~.se~ ~ of Correction. It was voted that the communication be
turned over to the Town Council to ascertain whether one-half or
three-quarters Of the term should be served to be elegib!e for
parole.
Bonds for the Tax Collector and Towa Treasurer received, the
same sent to Mr. Wardell for approval
A comnunication was received from Wadall for an audit to be
made of books at earliest convenience.
The Good HumOr Ice Cremn, Inc was granted their license to
sell Ice Cre~n from their truck as of their agreement of 1939.
Approval was received from the State Department of Conserva-
tion as to ~having ~',~.r.V.~. J. Blair as Forest Warden.
A complaint was received from ~,~'!r. Lawrence Cummings relative
to piles of refuse left ~n front of the oroperty of residences on
Pleasant Street. It was voted to turn this commtunication to
W.P.A. Coordinator,' for him to confer v~lth the foreman of the job
to see if this could be collected.
~' Mr. S. R. Borchell, Keeper of Our Island Home, requested
steam valves for the heating plaint, it was voted to request
Mr. Wallace Deacon to install same.
~r. Russell Pemberton, Con~nander of the American Legion, was
present to discuss terms of the lease for the re~tal of Legion Hall
to the' Term. It was voted to have new lease dravm by the Tovna
Counsel for the ensuing year.
Mr. ~Roy True, representing- the Monomoy Association met with~
~the Board and presented a petition signed by thirteen people from
Monomoy requesting permission.to select and hire their eyre garbage
collector. This matter was tabled for one week. ~,:Ir. Gilbert
Burchell was requested to meet with the Board at their next meeting~
Mr. Ralph Hammond spoke before the Board as to the position
of Secretary to the Public Welfare. '
It was voted to send a letter of appreciation to Mr. Hull,
Manager of Dreamland Theatre, for use of the hall for the annual
town meeting.
