In the name of the Commonwealth Of Massachusetts you are directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Nantucket, qualified to vote to Town Affairs, to meet at the Nantucket High School in said Nantucket on Friday, April 21,' 1972 at 7:30 o'clock in the after- noon, then and them tO act qn the.f°ll°wing. ~ articles: 1. To receive reports of the Various committees that may come before the meeting. We recommend that the report 0f the committee be received. .. To see if the Town will vote to instruct and authorize Representative Arthur Desr0cher to file a bill in the 'General Court to accomplish the following: (a) permit the election of 5 members of the Board of Selectmen, each for terms of 3 years to be ini- tiated in the 1972 town election by election of : - 2 candidates each for a term of 3 years, 2 can- - didates each for a term of 2 years and 1 candi- ~ date for a term of 1 year. (b) to rat',fly and confirm, the~ election of the Board of Selectmen in ac~0rdance with the 1972 town election; and. :~: ..... ,... :.:.. '.. ~ (c) to ratify and confirm the acts of the Board of Selectmen from and after March 14, 1972. Due to a limitation contained in chapter. 169 of the Acts of 1965, an enabling act of the General Court - .- is required to' implement.the-vote of Town which es- tablished the three year term of office for the five members of the Board of Selectmen. (a) We recommend that the Town vote to raise and appropriate' one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) to be used by a committee to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for ~urther study of waste disposal and report its findings and recommen- dations to the next special or annual town meet- Voted by the meeting as recOmmended by the Committee the vote being unanimous.-- ~ ' (b) We recommend that the Town vote to raise and appropriate eighty four hundred'dollars ($8- 400) and to borrow seventy four thousand six hundred dollars ($74,600.00) for the Depart- ment of Public Works to purchase equipment to be used for the operation ,of the sanitary landfill, in accordance with the General Laws, Chapter 44, Section 7, Clause 9. Voted by the meeting as recommended by the Committee the vote being unanimous. r4. TO see if the Town will vote to'~amend paragraph 1 of Section VII of the Building Code adopted under Article 13 of the Warrant for the 1972 annual town meeting, to provide for a Board of Appeals of 3 members and 2 associate members in lieu of 5 mem- bers and 2 associate members.
