Warrant No. 50 totalling $29,714.i9 ~as presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting ~ere read and approved. Mr. W. Ripley Nelson, Dr. Ralph Harvey, Mr. Tel Berna were pre- sent representing organizations sub committees of which had prepared a report covering a Park Commission and the proper use of Park land and recreational facilities. Mr. Nelson outlin ed the contents~of the report which recommended a Park Commission and set'out in detail how same might be activited. The Board were in accord that the proper method of handling this matter was'as outlined in the report. Mr. Arthur Gibbs of the Nantucket Planning Board was present and presented copy of the Plannings Boad report and their budget for 1960' Mr. Stackpole and Mr. Indo of the two local'papers were present and discussed with the Board the matter of specifications. for the printing of.the 1959 Town report, after discussion it was voted that the specifications be as-follows: 700 copies bid on a per page basis, all pages to be completely printed so far as parcticable. ~ Page stock 60 lb vellum offset or equivlant, cover stock 1~4 pound index or equvilant. Main body type eight point, heads fourteen point. Bidder to submit samples of page and cover stock and sample of printing with bid. Report to be completed and delivered ~ before annual town meeting. In line *ith the discussion of the printing of the~report it.was- voted to write Mr.~Barrett the town acct. and have him notify the various town depts, that their reports should be in by ~ 15 January 1960.and inform them that their reports should be as informative_as possible. The Board also discussed the matter of advertising the pri~nting of the annual warrant on a bid basis rather than printing xn both papers, this matter having been,suggested by the Finance Committee,'both.of the local edit&rs stated that the~printing , of this item was done at their regular advertising rates whic~ are fixed and that they would not bid on same. No action was taken on this matter. ,_ ' It was voted to advertise fo~ bids for the collection of rubbish at various'town and county bldgs,--same.to be in the hands of. the Board by next Wednesday. Mr. Walter Glowacki.was gra~ted a permit~to move a small garage ~ ~bldg. from the Sankaty C. G. station to the Brant Pt. station A letter was received from the Town Counsel setting out th~ terms of the use of the Town land opposite the Sea Cliff and voted_ referred to the Tree Commission which had requested this info Mr. Nathan Thurston was granted a,renewal of his permit to transp, garbage for 1960. A letter was received am from Dr. Kelly of the Barnstable County Hospital~enclosing a copy of a proposed new contract.compiled at the request of the Board which would exclude our present agreement for the care of cronic diseases at this hospital, the estimated saving to the Town being between 10 and la thousant per year. The Board approved the suggested contract and voted to so advise Dr. Kelly.,, Their being no further b~siness the Board w'eht into executive session and adj. at '10 PM. Bxecut ire session: ~ The Board executed new refud agreemtns with Blud Cross,and Blue SBield on our town insurance which would increase our loss ration and still make us eligible for refunds. A letter relative t0 the need fro a new ladder ~gruck,at the fire dept. was received from the N.R. Fire rating asso. and placed on file. ,~ ~ ,, The 'matter of the vacancy in the Pinance Committee caused by %he resigmation of Mr. Robert Congdon was discussed, the board went over the applications we had received last spring ,and had on hand a new application from Mr. Roger Young. on motion maMe and seconded Mr. Young was appointed to this Committee to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Congdon 1961.
