The meeting came to order as ,Selectmen at 7.50 PM having beeh-
preceeded by a county commissioners meeting.-All members of
the Board,being present.

Warrant No. 40 to~alling,$6,105.81 was presented by'Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and 'approved.
Mr. Prank Hardy, Linc. Porte and George ~amblln were present
and asked the Board to grant ,the legion post the use of
the triangle area at the milestone for the erection of a
memorial to James coffin and that the Board designate same
as James Coffin Memorial. After d~scussion ~he Board approve(
and Voted same. , --
On the same subject it was voted to inquire of the Town
counsel whether or not the record showed any ways cutting
across ~his plot of land.
Cmdr. Stephenson was present a~d requested approval of Maxwell
Ryder as Sp. Police officer to serve at Navy Basketball game:
at the highshool Aud. same was voted approved subjec$ to
approval of Chief Howes.
Mr. Bllison Pease, Secy of th~ Pishermens Asso. presented the
following recommendations of the Asso. relative to the
Co~ercial Scallop season:
1. Bag limit remain as at preseht 4 bags per man
2. Lic. fee be reduce to $2.00/
3. Suggested that area from 2n pt to Abrhams pt to the Wes~
'in the main harbor be closed tilll Dec. '
The Board ~ook the above, ma~ters under advisement.
Charles Stackpole was granted a permit to run Sq. ~dances' at
the grange hall during the winger months and was appointed
a Sp. police"to serve at said dances subject to approval of

A letter was received ~rom ~he Steamship Au~h.-advisi~g~hmt

would be satisfactory and voted to so advise.
A-lelterwas r~ceived from Paul Theabaud requesting extension
of the street lights on Madaket Rd. to the last fire hydrant
~ and takenunder advisement ~ :
A letter was received from Jude Caroline Leyden advising of the
appointment of Morten Zlotin as Court officer.
Mr. NormaJ Day was granted a permit to movers small bldg. from
N. Union Sro to Millbrook road on Sunday the'llth.
Contracts for the maintance of the state high~ay were received
signe~ for the next s~x ~onths.
A letter was received from Mr.'and Mrs Orleans protesting the
application'for a license for the storage of gasoline at
their garage bk the Island Sightseeing tours and filed with
the application for later action. '~

in the OAA and ADC office was received effective 21 Oct.

The positon of maintenance man at Our Island Home was~disucssed
an application was received from Gilbert Burchell Sr. and
George Duce, but no action was taken at this time.
Voted to have Sp. meeting,with Mr. Backus of th~ Steamsh~ip Auth.
