Warrant No. 31, totalling ~12,~70.61 was presented by Tdwn Acct. Barrett and checked and approved,by the Board. ~ Minutes of the previous meeting were re~d-and approved. Communication was received from Dist. Highwag'eng, S~ggesting tenative date for'annual county meeting on Thurs Aug. 20th,~ at 9.30 PM.after arrival of Boat. The Board approved this tiem and date, Mr. Joseph Cabral~Jr. was gr~nted a permit for a dance at the Dias skating ring on Thurs Aug 6th from 9 to 1. , Bids on waterproofing ihe central fire station were opened as ~follows: ~ Clifford Ryder $800.00~ Roger,King ~25.00; Thomas ~cGr~th' ~10.00. Voted that same be awarded the'lowest bidder Mr. A request was received asking thai a test be made of the waters at the childrens beach and it was voted to ~ave same done. A letter Was'received from Joseph Wkrd, Secy. Commonwealth, thanking Ch. Peases for curtesies extended him on his visit to ,the island.* A copy of a letter from N.E.Airlines to Mr. Stephen Heriitz was read and placed on file. ' ~ ~ A letter was received'with a clipPing on.Thomas Macy who started his.trip to Nantucket from Amesbury and placed on-file. :'Voted to attend a dinner at the Ships Inn for Adm. Bates comm- andent 1st Naval Dist, on Friday. ~ Notice~was received'that the Fairhaven town official were coming to Nantucket on Sunday PM for their annual outing and that they Were going to present a tree to the ,town. Ch..Pease was appointed a committee of one to make arrangements with the tree commission for same. .~ A report was received from Mr. Golden, Secy. ~ublic Relations= committee on July inquries and placemtns and placed on file. A lette~ was received from the Town Counsel relative to omr ..inquirty as to authority to relnegotiate the lease of the Jetties beach advising that the Board had ~ authority to ~ make leases up to five years without a vote of the town. This matter was discussed at some length, Mr. ~illen advisin that he would offer a rental of $3,000.00 p~r year for a five year'lease with an option for three additional years., at terms to be agreed upon by the parties. Voted to inquire of the Town counsel if this w~s withing our authoiity; and if not what we could do. ~ Voted to inquire of the Sewer commission as to the balance in the force main project appropriation and what additional work was necessary to complete same. ~ Voted to ask members of salary study committee to meet with us next week. Mr. Killen,presen~ed a motion with reference to the steamship, authority operation which,was voted approved and forwarded to the authority for action. The Board then went into executive session and adj. at 10. 15 PM. ~el~ctm'en~ Me'ting 5 Aug. 1959 Hxecutive Session: The Board wes in receipt of a Plan showing proposed lo~ation of new construction for dse next year .by Manuel Perry et al dba Thirty 'Acres off Bartlett Road,~as the area was well removed from the-road end'should not bother anyone in the area it was voted to advise that' so 'far as this 'Board was concerned the location was suitable. Matter of complaints as to-noxise emaninting from the area of the Christman cottages was discussed and due to many stories it was ,voted to ~ask Chief Howes to make an nightly survey after 1AM for the next week and report-to the Board on con- ditions in the areal
