The meeting came i0 order at 8PM,all members of th~ Board being
present.
.warrant No.~'29,~ totalling,$17,7~3.86 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.~
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Antone Mendes Was present'and requested a,Permit for dances
at the Dias Skating Rink on Sat. from 8.30 to midnite
for the rest of l the summer thru 5 Sept. same was voted
approved. ,
Pole locations on Gosnold Rd. and Hallowell Lane were approved.
notices having been sent and no objections having been
received. _. -~
Mr, William Bu'rdick Sr. was present and ~sked for "just one more
chance" to prove he could handle.the job of street sweeper
same was taken under advisement. ~
An application from a Michael N. Meyers for permit for dances
on Sat. evenings at the Dias Skating rink was tabled for
~ further information it appearing that the hall was already
in use on this evening.
On application of Mr. and Mrs Anton Neiburg the Board voted to
approve one hour parking on Salem St. from Wash. to'candle
South side for the summer season. ~ ~
'Mrs Chs. Cahoon wrote about the speeding on Union St. and after
discussion it was voted to have a large Slow sign painted
on the street near the foot of Flora St. -,
A letter was ~received from clement Reyndlds protesting lack Of,`
references to. Siasconset by the information bureau, same
was voted referred to the public relations committee.
Appiicatons were received from Howard W. Hull and Blwyn Frnaics
Sr. for 1 the position of Shellfish Warden to fill the un-
'~ expired term of Manuel Souza. On motion made and secmnded
it was voted that Mr. Francis be appointed to this pssition
A proclamation congratulating t~he town on its 300th anniversary
was received from-the town of'Stoughton; and voted to
acknowledge same.
Robert S. Backus, our member of the Steam-ship Authority wrote
in reply to our protest about the service of the steamer
'Nantucket Idvising that he was-, in accord and that the
matter would be taken up with the authority. ,' 'J ~'
Mr. Leo Rosen, ~wrote protesting any road along the' e~ge of the - creek area.
MrS Cyril Shelvey wrote requestin~ . ~hat some action be taken to
dim~the light,at the jetties beech,' which she claimed shone
in the bedrooms of her home and ,that of others' After dis-
~cussion it was voted to request the Co. to .place a shield
at the rear of the light for the summer season.
An application was received from Lawrence Miller fo~,the public
relations committee. As there are no vacancies at this
time same was filed.
Mr. and Mrs David Marshall were granted a permi~ for performances
at Barn States on 25 July 1959.
Letter ~was received from resident of Harbor View Way protesting
the surface water condition 4t,the area after heavy rains
and voted referred to the Sewer Commission.

advising.~that the ladder truck could not pas inspection
and asking to meet with' the Board on this and other matte~rs
voted to have chief in next meeting.- "

Manuel Perry et al were granted a'_permit for recorded music

Walter Hatch was granted'a renewal of his Ice cream and soft
