" Warrant No. ~- totalling $37,333.43 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr~ Arthur Stetson, Mr. and Mrs Melvin Chambers, Mr. Earl B~r~lett prpperty owners on Bartlett road were present and protested the.granting of an alcoholic beverage license to Manuel O. Perry et al. Mr. Oscar B. Quigley also protested same by .. letter. This ma~ter was taken under advisement as it is not ripe for Board action until next week. ' Pole locations for the Tel & Tel and Nant.,Gas &Elec. were approv d 'as follows: Washington St. Franklin Si. five poles on Pleasan' Application for pole locations on Pleasant st. covering 6 p~les was set for hearing on 15 July notices having to be sent to the abutters. ~ The m'atter of the applicatimn of the Islander Inc. for a year round package store wine and malt license having taken the course prescribed by law and no objections having been~ ~ received was voted-approved. ~ A communication from Comdg. H.P.Smith requesting some sort of a sign designating the lower square by its correct name of Lt. Max Wagner Sq. was referred to the Supt. of' streets.,~ The application of Mr. Meyer for a permit for recorde'd music a~ No. 21 Center St. having been tabled for a week and no obT~ ~ jections having been received was voted approved. A letter_was received from Mr. Lewis Greenleaf enclosing a letter to him from Sen.Prescott Bush advising that budgetry approval - had been given for funds for and instrument landing system and a control tower at the Nantucket Airport probably to be operative in fiscal year 1961. Voted send letter to Mr. Greenelaf and Sen. Bush thanking them for~their.efforts in this matter. Sup~. of streets Jaeckle was present and read for the Board an article in a mainland paper commenting on the smount of signs of various types about the country to which'no one seems is pay any attention. The Board voiced lhere smntiments ,, to the same effect, on this matter. A letter from a Joel Kinsman dommenting on the activities at the sheep shearing festival and with parlicular emphasis on the work of The Marshals was received and placed on file. An applicaiion from an Alexander S%oia Jr. for~a permit to serve coffee and pasteries in the rear yard of the Cockeyed Dove ~ Shop same being on Liberty St. was tabled for~a week. The following licens&s ~nd permits~were granted. White Elephant Hotel, Piano entertainment; Siasconset Casino, Movies A form notice of projects in the budge~ of the state DPW water- ways division listed a project at the Childrens Beach for a small boat landing. Bel~ had requested admission of Mr. Bell to the Island Home on a paying basis he having suffered a shock and needing nursing care. After considering this matter it was voted to'approve~same at the rate of $7,00 per day Mrs Bell to be responsible for ail Dr's Hospital, medicine and incidental expenses and with the condition that if we needed the space for a welfare care she would have to remove him. Bids on doing some plumbing work in line with converting the Island Home to a Public.Medical-~In'st. were received from Ralph Bartlett & Son and Jack Ramos & Son as follows: Bartlett work as specified $871,17~' with the addition of a wash basin we providing ,same in the utility room which was ~not in the specs. ' Ramos and son work as specified $639.57, It was voted that this job be awarded Mr. Ramos and that we get a ; figure from him on the installation of the wash 'basin in th,e·utility loom which was not in his bid, The matter of a Dog chasing cars on WillardlSt. was voted r~eferred to the Dog office. > ~' The matter of dir,~y sand and str-~et scrapings at .the 'Jetties Beach " was referred to the highway dept ' ," " r, J. ~Glidden, Secy; C
