The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the 'Board being present. .,. , ~' Warrant No. 24, 'totalling $60,21] .98 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett 'and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and 'approved. Mr. Howard Bardsley was present and discussed With the Board the recommendations of the Madaket Conservation Asso. the Board was in accord with most of the recommendations ~nd suggested that an article should be inserted in the annual warrant for funds to-do some of the items suggested. On the matter of signs designating entrances unto and off the beach it was felt that the logical entrance and exit should be at the "Key Post" and not further up as suggested. Mr. Bardsley stated that he would confur with the Asso. later and contact us again. The Board approved the application of T. Kania, Wm] Henderson and R. Sylvia for a permit to serve malt beverages at beach parties during the summer as follows: Monday 22 June at the Sheep Shearing Festival 9AM to Midnite; Sundays July 12,19,26,August 2,9,16,25,30th Sept. 6th at the South Beach Creek area from 3.30 PM until 10 PM. An application was received from the Islander Inc. for a year round wine and malt beverage license and same .was voted to take the course prescribed.by law. Chief Bartlett was granted approval t~'attendthe Fire Chiefs~ Convention at New Hampshire next week. - Notices were received from the DPU relative 'to a hearing to be held on the 'petition of one Phinney requesting thai the, Telephone Co. be compelled to'provide phone service on Island of Tuckernuc~, and placed on file. A letter was received from Mr. Wilbour Dir. Division of Marine Fisheries suggesting the program that should be 'carried out _with reference to the Oyster seed in Sesachacha Pond as a copy of same had been sent to Shellfish Warden Souza and he was carrying out the program no action was necessary. Applications'fr6m the Tel and Tel and Gas-and Blec. Co's for pole locations oh Washington St. and Franklin street were received and date of hearing set for 1 July 1959. ~Albert L._Silva, Inc. was' granted a Class 1 used,car dealers license. ~ . Sidney Killen ~ba The Jetties Beach was granted a renewal of his Common Vici. Ice cream and soft drink license. Nantucket Sea'Foods, Meilbye and Grant dba was granted a rene'wal of their Common Vici. license. · Mrs Wm. Nixon dba the Penguin, Madaket was 'granted a renewal of Common Vici. Soft Drink, Ice cream licenses at :.said place of business. Telegrams were received from Pres. Eisenhower and Mayor Clancy of Cincinnati thanking the Board for invitations to the 300ti anniversary, celebration and advising they would be unable to attend. -- The following licenses and permits were: approved: Wauwinet House, entertain~efit~ permit; Opera House, Piano entertainment; Chanticleer, Innholders license; Turtle Bay Common Vici. license; Skipper, Common Vici. ~icense, Woodbox ~ Innholders license. Knight of · Airlines in, reply to the Boards request for information and' also~a copy of a reply sent,to Mr. Stephen Herlitz relative to N.B., service and placed on file. O~ recommendation of Chief Howes Mr. Peter Gomes, Mr. Gil'bert Burchell',Or. and Mr. Gilbert Burchell Sr. were appointed as Special Police officers. It was voted to advertise for bids for providing Milk' for Our Island Home, same to be in next week. Bids were re6eived on print~ng tickets f~r the~300th co,u~ittee as follows:'Town Crier 11.50 Inquirer & Mirror 15.00 it was voted that same be awarded the lowest bidder. The Board then went into executive session and adjourned at 11.15 PM. c .... James K. Glidden, Secy Executive Session: The Board met with Mrs Slosek of,the Island Home and went over , various matters relative to the conversion'of same to a Public Medical Inst. ~ It was suggested that we advise Dr. Collins the Town Physician that his duties envolved taking care of the non paying,_ '. patients at the home· '~ Mr. Barrett commented'that b~ had observed what appeared to be something destroying the foialige on the Madaket road and it was_voted to contact'the tree commission.~ '- -~.
