HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-05-27The meeting came to order at 8PM al'l me~bers of the Board being ., present. Warrant No. 21, totalling $33,981.48 was pr'e~ented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read~hnd approved. Miss AdeIine Cravott Town Nurse was present and conferred with the Board relative ,to a program s~e was working on for a pplio immunization clinic, Same was approved by the Boar~ Mr. W. Ripley Nelson was present in behalf of the Civic League and outlined the work the league had done with reference to poisen ivy and rag weed and advised that they would continue to make the necessary pollen count this summer so that we would be listed i,n the publication for Hay Fever sufferers2 Mr. Louis Ay~tte was present and presenteda petiti6n of resident~ of lower Orange street objecting to the granting of a license for the sale of alcoholic beverages to Joseph Cabra and Antonio Roderick at the Snack Shop property on lower Orange street' Mr. Cabral was also present and stated that he was aware J of the trouble blt. Ayotte had had in the past but that he felt he could operate the premises in a manner that would' be satisfactory to all. The Board took this matter under advisement and later in the evening Voted to deny this application at this location. Mr. Peter Gomes was present '~hnd presented,an appi'ication for the position of Harbor master and yacht garbage collector no action was taken at this time, the Board later voting to request the two applicants Mr. Gomes and Mr. Start to meet with us next week to discuss these jobs. Mr. John Golden was present and submitted a report in behalf of the Public Relations Committee. Dreamland Theatre was granted a permit for Sunday movies from 15 June to 23 Sept. 1959. Mr. John Walsh was granted a renewal of his Junk Dealers License. It was voted to write Mr. L. R. Sellew district hgy. eng. advisin that the sketch submitted for a ro~ary traffic'at the'Mile- stone area was not quite what we had in mind and asking if he or someone from the traffic dept. could meet with us .and go over this matter. , bliss Esther Gibbs was granted a renwal Of her Innholder. s license at N. Shore Rest. Center St. Town. 'It was voted to open the Comfort stations over the Memorial Day weekend. The following license re~ewais were requested and-approved: Nant. Pharmacy Inc. Soft, Drink License; The Ropewalk, Piano and recorded music entertainment, nogroup singing; Mad Hatte] recorded background music; Application was received from the Nant. C0nst. Co. for extension of the contract for paving parking area at the Jetties Beacl from May 30th to 15 June and voted-approved. Voted to have a 15MPH sign,erected at the junction of N. Beach St. and Hulbert Avenue facing N. bound drivers.
