Warrant No. 14, totalling $29,328.26 was~presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes'of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Walter Glowacki was present and oonfer~ed with the Board relative to his thoughts on putting bulldozing work at the town dumps out to bid, no decisionwas made on this matter,at this time.TM _ ,' An application from Mr. Walter Glowacki for a permit to store various classes of oil in three,tanks above ground at his tar pit off Old South'Rd. was presented and date a hea~ing as provided by law was set for Friday 24 April Arthur Desr0cher CD director was present and requested~ approval to sound the fire alarm on 17 April at 11.30 AM and 1.30 PM in conjunction with a C.D. Alert, ~same was Noted approved. Mr. Desrocher also discussed the matter of a disaster plan for removal of records from the Town and County bldg. and it was suggested that he formulate such a plan and submit it to the Board. ( The matter of laying a brick sidewalk from Beach street ,to Easy rather-than Asphalt was discussed with Supt. of Streets Jaeckle he suggested that a four foot wide sidewalk with grass strips on each side could be constructed for aprox. 1,000.00 and it was suggested that he'confer with Mr. Norman Giffen local agent of the Ateamship ~uth. to det- ermine if the authority would pay half of cost of same. The Board went over various bid proposals and specifications foz ~ ' general contract for road work and a contract for enlarging the'parking-area at the Jetties Beach under A~t. 32 of~ the Warrant.and it was voted that same be advertised fo~ bids to be in the hands Of the Board by next Wed. 15 April; A letter was received from Jos D. Blatt, Airport Adm. FAA rel- ative to funds from the Federal Gov. for airport work 'and as the airport'commission had received same information same was filed. Mr. A. Preston Manchester dba Upper Deck Restaurant was granted a renewal of.his entertainment permit for Piano at said' place of business with same restirctions as last year ~e. 'no group singing. ~ ~Letters were received from Roland M[ Coffin and Myles M.'Reis thanking the Board for their appointments as Garbage Collectors. Bids were received on Art. 62new police cruiser as follg~s: Al's Auto sales and~service only bidder bid $1500.00 plus~ trade in o{ present cruiser as specified. It was voted that same be voted approved with the notation that on the questi. of springs it was felt that the specifications in calling. for heavy duty springs, meant something over and above what usually come on,the vehicle. ~ A letter was received from %he Dept. of Marine Fisheries ap~rovi the Family and Commeraial Shellfish licenses for the 58-59 season. A copy of a letter sent from local taxi operators to Mr~ Glennon Ch. of the steamship authority was'received and placed on f )n Sel~ctme~ns Me ting ',' April-1959 Page'2. Services Adm. relative t6 the renewal of the lease of Selective service rooms in the sanford house and voted approved. Mr. William N~egan was granted a renewal of his Lodging House. ~ licenses at Westminster St. and Hussey St.' Mr. Allen Holdgate was granted a r~newal of his Soft drink ense at the Airport. Applications for renewal of seasonal all alc°hi{c veverage'lic- enses ~ere received from the following and voted to take the course prescribed by law; ~obadeer Inc.~Opera Hpuse and Harbour House. The Tree Commission wrote nominating Mr. Manuel'Machado for appointment to said Commission to fill the unexpired ferm of M=. Robert Young and same was voted approved A report from the Public relations committee was read a~d filed. ApPlications~f0r positions at Our Island Home were received~ from Mr. and Mrs William King, Mr and Mrs Chester Williams Irene Peters.and taken under advisement at-this time. Mr. Killen advised~that he had talked with Miss Thelma Co'fin · and that she would-be_amenable to having some cement post~ placed along her fence line to protect it from cars on Lily St. same was referred to the Highway dept ......
