'The meeting came to order at 7..30 PM all members of the Board
being present.
Warrdnt No. 10 to'ailing $21,479.35 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board..
'Minutes of the previous meeting were read ~nd approved.
Mr. Sanguinetti, was present and'thanked the Board for his
appointment as Town Counsel.
Mr. Austin Tyrer of the Sewer Commission was present and asked
if we had any information as regards the request of the
Sewer Commission for a Sp. Town me,ting. Was advised that
~ we had conferred with the Dir. of Accounts while we were~
in Boston on t~is matter and were to wait until we had
some word as to the date of passage of the Sp. Act. allow-
ing us to.borrow for this purpose before we set the Sp.
Town meeting.
Mrs Henry Huyser was present and presented a petition signed
by residents of New street-asking that some action be
taken as regards a sidewalk on the N. side of the street.
This matter was tabled at'this time.
Mr.. Russell Pope of the Tree Commission was present and request,
in'behalf of the Commission that we grant the Commission
authority to use a portion of the town land at the Cliff
for.the purpose of setting up a tree nursery, Same was
- voted' approved. ~
Mr. flPppe .advised that there was material belonging ~to the
highway dept'- in the area and it was voted to request the
highway supt. to clear 'said area so that same could be
used for a tree nursery.
Mr. Pope also asked if leaves swept from the streets in
the fall could be.dumped 'at the ~rea to build up a compostE
.__pile and sam.e..was voted .appro~ved.
It 'was voted to have a special'meeting at 7.30 PM on,Thurs
discuss the'matter of appointments: Note said m&eting was
subsequently-postponed to Priday due to a storm.
A letter was received from the Town Acct.' relative to a balance
needed to correct books on'the matter of salary paid the'
Marine fish warden for Jan; and Peb. *inasmdch as the Tonw
.~ voted no~funds for this position this~year. Also the matte~
of-an approprition for fire al~mm boxes which he had closed
'out needed a transfer for $355141 to meet a bill which had
come in. This matter was tabled for the time being.
The Reg.' of Deeds was ~uthbrized to purchase the microfilming
camera and equipment as voted by the Town meetin from
either of~the two firms which had given him quotations 'it
apPearing'fro~ information before the board that both price
were the same. ~
Application was received from the Islander Inc.
its seasonal-all alcoholic pack; store license and voted
to take the course Presc. r.ibed by law.:
It Was voted to send a"ietie~ to the R m pasture As~o. thanking
them for their assistance in the ~pening of Hummock Pond.
The matter of opening Miac0met Pond,' Mosquito Commission was
discussed and~it was voted t6 table this matter for one
week before author~izing same. ~
It %vas reported that windows installed at OUr Island Home by"
Douglas Lawrence, last year were lea~ng and voted to

''write Mri Lawrence to investigate same 'and advise~
'It was voted to-authorize the,installation of a street light
'" at the 3etties Beach parking area and to so advise the"
Gas and ~lec. Co. '
The matter'of the salinity'Of Hummock' Pond was discussed and
it was voted to have the Shellfish warden make ~ test of
same.
The Board discussed the advisability of extending the Commercia
scallop season for two weeks into April and same was
at this.time. '~ ,~ " ..
Specifications~for a police cruiser were-submitted'by Chief
Howes.calling for a'4 wheel drive jeep vehicle and it
was voted to request the chief to meet with us next we~k
~' and discuss this matter. ~ -'.. ;
Mr. Killen stated that Miss Thelma Coffin had never received-
an acknowledgement of her request fmr a curb. And it was:,
, voted that she be sent same and that the Board,acknowledge
requests'by card or otherwise ......
There being no further busines~s the meeting adj. at 10.~0
and went into executive session to discuss welfare matters

The matter Of thecondition of the. premises of Wm. Burdick
Sr. was d~scussed it appearing that he had no water at
~ his'home, and thet the Board had instructed him som~two
weeks ago to have same~repaired and advise.' It was voted
to'ask Mrs Grimes to consulf the state child'gu~rdianship
people as'regar~s~this case and ask,that they make an in-
vestigation of same.
