The meeting came.to orde~ at 7.30 PM all members of. the Board
being present. ~
· Warrant No. 6, totalling $~4,031.42 was pre~ented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meetihg were read and approved.
Under old business it was voted to inspect the Nant. Dairy Mr. Slosek at 4 PM on Friday the 13th.
-A letter was received from the Town Counsel relative to ~he~
towing bill of Eugene Rezendes in whihh he advised that-
be did not beleieve there was any liability on the town
in a case such as this. It was voted to so advise Mr.
Rezendes. ~
Mr. john ~olden ~f the Ch. of Commerce was present and commente¢
that the Chamber was in receipt of quite a few complaints
as regards merchants accepting orders receiving payment
then not getting the merchandise. It was voted to ask the
'town counsel if we could establish some type of a license
to give us some control of business establishments'
Mr. Golden also discussed the matter of disciosing bf~p.submitte
to him in his capacity of Secy. of the Public relations
committee, this matter was disucssed and it was pointed
out thai the proper procedure would be for bids to be sub-
mitred and opened by the Board.' "
~Mr. Vincent 'Arno was granted a renewal of his common vici. lic
~nse at Vincents Pizerria S. Water St. Town.
An invitation was received to the Washingtons Birthday {ece~t
at the state house' And filed. ~,
Application fo~ pole lo%ations on Massassoit road were received
and'date for hearing set for 26 Feb. 59.
A~ application was received from Clnntbn H. Murray for a loading
zone on N. Union street'and same was ipproved the exact
location to be~determined by conference with Mr. Mur~ray.
Mr. Meilbye stated that he was disturbed by the manner in which~
~the Inquirer and Mirror bad,reported the County hearing
~'-Lwith Mr. Jennings and outlined what,the Board had done a~d
what had' transpired and asked for more cooperation between
Lthe press and the Board. ~
The Board discussed the matter of the Sewer break on Union ~tree
and its seriousness, the matter of a sign was discussed but
it was felt this would do little good and that the best an-
swer was. to follow the matter through and see that the sewe
commission took theproper action to correct the cause of
these breaks.
There being no further-business the Board went into executive
session to discuss a welfare matter and adj. at. 10 PM.
Welfare:'The application Of Mrs Elsie staf'f~rd for admission of
Miss Smalley to Our Island Home for a one month period was
approved, the rate being $5.00. per day she to pay all hosp.
drs etc.
