The meeting', came to order~'a~'7.30 PM all members of the 'Board
being present.
~arrant No. 2, totalling '$9;806.$0 was- presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting,were read and approved. .
The Board was in receipt of a plan of a proposed park at the Chi ns beach area drawn to scale for the Board by Mr.
H. Brrol Coffin which Mr. Coffin had drawn up to assist the
,Board in showing how this area could be developed. It,was
voted to write Mr. Coffin a letter of thanks ,for this ser-
vice which had been done at no charge to the town.
A letter was received from the Dept. of corporations and tax-,
ation certifying that the available free cash was certif=
ied as $103,310.18 and it was voted that this information
be turned over to the Finance Committee.
A l~,tter was received from I~abel Veit of Siasconset pointing
out that a resident of Sankaty Ave. had erected a radio
tower which she felt was in danger of toppling on the
utility wires and had further applied for a permit to carry,
a gun which~she did not approve of. Inasmuch as the Board
has no control over 'the erection of towers on a persons
property, and the matter of the pistol'permit had been~re-
ferred to the Chief of Police no action was taken on this'
~, matter.
A letter was received from the State Health Dept- advising that
a temporary license ' had been issued to the Island Home
pending inspection of~ same.
The Board signed renewal-contracts for care of TB patients at
' the Barnstable Coflnty Sanatorium, at the same rate as the
existing contract.
A letter was ~eceived from the Town Counsel-advising that the
Board had the power of park commissioners and~that he would
draw up an~appropriate regulation~for littering-the beach
and further advising ,that as regards the regulations of
Hawkers and peddlers that,the state issued these licenses ·
and we had no control over .same.
A lette~' was received from the Division of ~,iarin'e Fisheries,~
Mr. Wilbour setting forth a plan for theuse of Sesac_~acha
Pond' as'a seed development 'area for Oysters and'clafms ~
and outlining a,project' One,or'the first things ne-._,
cessary being the right to control~the water iff the pond
by opening same~to the ocean from time to t~me~ Inasmuch
as the area we'op~n is on the land of Mr. Colgate it was
voted to write Mr.?Colgate and outline th& plan to him an~
request his permission.~ ·
It was noted that'~xEMzx~a8 the Board was reqfiested to set up
5 Feb. as Good'Govecnment day for the Boy Scouts of American
and it was so voted,
Mr. Harry Gordon was 'granted a renewl of his Class 1 used ,car
dealers license.
A letter was'received,from the Dukes County Selectmens~Asso.
advising of the names they had appointed to the Committee
they had suggested to look into the Bo. at line ma~ters
a letter was also received from Rep. Mooney outlining n~s
views on this subject at the request of the Board. Mr. Mooney
felt that basically the matter could only be corrected by
legislation
it should be limited,in its scope
schedules,, freight-rates ets and'stay out or'the legislation~.

An application was~-rsceived from Harold B' ~RYder Jr. stating his
interest 2n serving on such~a committee.
After some discdssion it was voted to' table .this matter for the
time being.

Mr. Joseph Cahoon was granted a renewal of h~s:~sm~iz~z~k Ice~
cream and milk licehse at Joe's Variety store, Milestone

Mr. Fred Armstrong of"the Naval FaCility was granted a per'it
to ho~d a public dance at Bennett Hnll on Fri. from 8 to 1.
There being no further business .the meeting adjourned at 10 PM
