8 January 1959
The meeting Came fo order at 8.15 PM having'b~en preceeded by.a
county commissioners meeting, all members of the Board being
present. ~
Warrant No. 1,,t~talling 717.32 was presented by'Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the' previous re~ul, ar' and special meetings were 'read
and approved.
Town Clerk C. C. Coffin was p~esent with a short term note to
be signed by the Board in the'amount of $20,000.00 to be
used to pay remaining construction costs of the runway
extension .at the airport pending receipt of state and fed-
eral funds. ..
· he letter ~re'viously' received from the Dukes ~ounty Se~lectmens
Asso. relative to the appointment of a committee to look
into matters relative to the S.S. Authority was'again dis- '
'cussed and it was voted to refer same to Rep. Mooney for'
his comments and to ask for the names of any citizens who
might be interested in serving on such a committee if aame
were appointed.
Mr. Rober~ Hardy came in later in the meeting a~d spoke on this
same subject stating that he hoped'the Board would see fit
'to appoint such a committee. ~
A 'iette~'was~received from Gaetano J. Migliori ~Tc of the C.
Loran station requesting a pistol permit and it was voted
that he be referred to the police dept~
Nantucket Ph~ inc. was granted a renewal of its Common ¥ict.-and
Ice Cream license. ~
John C. McGlinn et~l d~a The Hub were granted renewals of their
Common Vict ~ and Ice Cream licenses.
Island Chev. was ~ granted a renewal of its class '1 used car dealer:
license ....
Mr, Dennis' Dias was~granted a renewal~of his Common Vict. and
Ouke Box license at Surfside Road.
Reports were received from the Town Nurse-and the sconset Water
Dept. of their 1958 operations_ and placed on file.
There being no further,business the Board Went~into executive
session to discuss a welfare matter'and adj.~at 9.30 PM.
Weifare:
secy. G15dden re~orted'that he had aided the John Strueinski
~ family on Hummock Pond road the husband having been sent
to Pocasset for T.B. treatment.
