HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-12-04Selefitmens Meeting Dec..1958 Th~ meeting came to order' as Selectmen at 8.31 having been pre- ~ , ceeded by a County Commissioners meeting. All members of ~ 'the .Board being present. Warrant No'. /~ with the exception of a '~oucher calling for -payment of the Steamship Authority Deficit, was approved by the Board totalling $14,062.81. Minutes~of the previ0t~s meeting were read and approved. A letter was received from the DPW advising that .due to a surplus in the Monomoy-and Milk St. extension appropria- tions that the state had authorized 18,500 as the states share of Ch. 90 work to be split 14,500 for new const. and 4,000 for maintenance. It was also noted that a meetin~ ~ith the commissioners of Public works was scheduled for Wed the llth at~ 1.~SPM and arrangements for some of the Board to attend were made It was noted that'some of the seed scallopswRich had been marked by, the shellfish warden and deposited in the Bel point channel had been discovered and that they had made a subastntial growth. ' The Board discussed with the Supt. of streets t~e matters of a catch basin at N. Liberty St.feet.and N. Beach 'street on Swain, and on Beach street near the yacht club and Harbor view way, the Supt. stated that he felt that any' flooding conditions were as a~result of the Sewer dept. not having a'sufficient appropriatioh for surface drains and tbat the highway dept only cleaned off the tops of the drains. It was voted to ask the Sewer Commission fo'r a report on the conditions at-these areas. Mr. Walter J' Glowacki was granted a renewal of his Junk Dealers license at Old South road. , " A notice was received from' Clinton and Agnes Murray advising that the licensed premises of Murrays Beverage store had been moved to No. 23 Main st. as of Nov.29th. Allen Holdgate dba Airport Snack'ba~ was g~anted a renewal of his commom vict and ice cream license. A notice was recieved from the clerk of courts that. the Chief 'Justice had changed the date of the May and Oct. sitting , of the Sup.~court from Tues to Monday of said months . A letter from'Linda Loring requesting a hydrant, on washington street was referred to the Chief of the Fire Dept~. for investigation and suggestions. It was voted , tha-'t our meetings which ~uld oridinairly be on the 25th and the 1st be held on the23rd and 31st due to the holidays. An invitation was received from the Nant. Fishermens Asso to the annual banquet of the Asso. on Sat' 6 Dec. at Legion Hall/ and voted that a letter of appreciation be sent the Asso. blt. Albert C. Johnsen Sr was granted a renewal of his permit 'to transport garbage for the year 1959. An application was'received from ~esleY SiPhons requesting'a one years leave of 'absence from the Police dept. The_ matte~ was discussed and it was voted to table the matter for one week. Mooney. ;~ There being no further business the Bo'ard went into executiv~ session to discuss welfare matter and adjourned at James K. Glidden,'.Secy.
