The meeting came to order at 7.30 PM all members of the Bo'ard- ~ be,i~g._present. ~ , ,. -'
Warrant No. 44 'totalling $52,019.01 was pre~ented by Town'' Acct.
Barrett.and checked and approved ~by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Mr. Bm~zX Margeson was present and presented a letter from
his sister Mrs Thomas Gibbs requesting 'a commercial scallop
license, stated that he had resided in Nantucket since
24 May 58 coming'here 'from ~~Ve~ to make his. home ~ith
his sister after having gotten out of~the Marines. He was
advised to consult the town clerk 'and if he satisfied the
requirements' necessary to register to vote, as to residence
he would be eligible for a license
A letter was re'6eived fro~ Mrs Harriet Richard in behalf 'of the
Legion Aux. requesting permission to hold a Poppy day sale
on Sat. 8 Nov. 1958 and voted approved' ~
A letter was recei,~ed from Mrs Rayno~, M. Gardiner suggesting
' several ideal relative to helping traffic on the islgnd
one relative to placing a sign on Grove lane at New Lane
to warn traffic that new land is a thru way was voted app-
roved, the others relative to cutting~corners or sidewalks
at Chester St. Lily St 'and Center and placing a white line
in the center of the curve from Broad St. 'to N. Beach were
filed at this time for further investigation and it ~as vot{
that a letter be sent Mrs Gardiner for her suggestions, and
interest ' '~ .. ~
A notic~ was received from the DPU relative to the petition of
'the Wassacomet Water Co. to hold real estate not exceeding
250,000 in value .and place on file.
~r.'~E~uel Souza was appointed Deputy Shellfish Warden to serve
under Warden Winslow startnng 1 Nov. and continuing until'
further notive.from the Board. Other applica~nts were Elwyn,.
Francis Sr. and Allen Royal. ' .~
There' being no further ~usiness the Board we~t into executive
session to discuss welfare matters and adjoonned at 8.50 PM.
Voted that Frank Correia be admitted to Our Island Home Mr.
Mullowney having g?ne home and making space available.
The Board discussed, the matter of sand_from the'sealcoating :
and voted to write Supt. Jaeckle thai same should go on
t~e Town lot coener N. Beach and Jefferson Ave.
