HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-09-25 Selec~mens Meeting '25 Sept, 1958, 'The meeting came to order at 7.30 PM all members of the Board except Mr. Blair being present. Warran't No.39 totalling $~,3,625.86 was'presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting Were read and approved. A letter was reveived from Mrs Butler of Q6idnet advising ~hat as the result of a survey of her property it was found~that the Squam road as travelled went over a corner of her prop- erty. It was voted to refere this matter to the Supt. of streets to look into. A letter was received from Ellis D. Taylor 'of Tuckernu'ck thankin the Board for the fine work done by the Mosquito and Insect pest'control depts and forwarded on to said depts. A letter was received from Mrs. C. Morgan Harris protesting the the paving of the Quidnet road and placed on file. Bids were received on fur~ishing fuel oil to various town and - County Bldgs as follows: ISCO ' 13¢ per gal Sherburne Oil .1395¢ per gal same was voted awarded to lowest bidder, term 1 Oct. 5~ thru 30 Sept. 59. An application was received from Manuel Souza for the position of Dep. Shellfish warden for the commercial scallop season and placed on file at this time. Approval was granted Mr.'Samuel Garrison to hang a sign from his new place of business at No. 4 Federal St. A letter was received from Mrs Elsie H. Higgins relative to grass ~rowing through.the bricks of'a sidewalk on Martins Pole locations for the Tel & Tel and Gas & Elec Co. were approve{ as follows: Square Rd. five poles; Bartlett Rd 1 Pole. It ~aa voted to bare the grass at the Mill Pond cut.and the drai plugges to provide a skating area later in the winter. The matter of a sign desgnating Caton Circle was referred to the Supt.~of streets . The Board also discussed the matter of trees'and street lights but no action was taken at this time. There being no further business the Board went into executive session to discuss welfia~e matters and adj. at 9.30 PM. Welfare~ Mrs Ira Appleton approved for ½ ton coal. Noted that Hilda Lawrence children are with Mrs Huffman and that Welfare dept. will have to pay thier care. Voted to have outside and two interiorz3doors at Town Bldg. painted.
