The meeting came to order at 8.31 PM having been preceeded'by a
County Commissioners Meeting, All members of the Board
,being present.
Warraht'No. 3~ totalling $14,872.56 was.presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Deputy Sheriff Bardsley was present and it was voted to meet at
the office of the town clerk at 3PM on Friday the 5th of
Sept. for the purpose of drawing Traverse jurors for the
fall sitting of the SuperiourCourt, and to request the use
Cyrus Pierce School of the School Committee
It was voted to write to the ISO0 and Sherburne Oil Co. requesting
sealed bids for the furnishing of fuel oil to town blds
for period 1 Oct. 58 thru 30 Sept. ~59. 'same to be in the
hands of the Board by 4 PM on 23 Sept. 1958, bids._to be on
a per gallon basis for the term of the contract with no
conditions relative to increase or decrease in the~market
price.
Mr. Richard Coffin requested information' relative to the 300th~
anniversary celebration as to availability of guest house
booklets and listings, it was voted to take same up with
the public relations committee.
It was voted to have the life guard at the Childrens Beach on
Francis street stop.work tomorrow Friday the Sth the Guards
at the other Beaches having stopped after labor day.
It was 'voted ~0~write Mr. Sellew and complain about the poor job
done in,th~e.resurfaclng of the Polp~s Rd~.
A letter was .received from the DPW advising that Walter Glowacki
had requested extension of his contracts on the Monomoy
Rd. and Milk St. extension until 20 Sept. and that the
Commissioners recommended that we approve same. As there
seemed to~ be no alternative same was approved.
The matter of establishing a plumbers code was discussed it app-
earing that a majority of the local plumbers were in favor
of same it was voted to request the State licensing agency
to send a representative to the island to discuss this
matter with the Board and the plumbers.
i~ letter was received from the Commodore of the Columbia Ya~ht
Club, S. Boston commenting on'the courtesy~accord his
group by the Harbour Master, Mr. Blount.
A letter was received from R. Adm. Roland of the USCG relative to
our letter on the condition of the Madaket C.G. Sra. stating
that same was in a caretaker status but that he would have
someone look at it and report and would advise.
