The meeting :came to order at 8P~i'ail membe'rs Of the Board being
present. ,
Warrant No[' 27, totalling $8809.39 was presented by .town Acct. ~
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Charles C. Coffin Town Clerk was present with a note to be
signed by the Board to authorizm the treasurer to borrow
the sum'of $108,000.00, the previous note signed by the
' Board a few weeks ago having been not approved the the
State Acct. dept.
Miss Carpenter of 8 Rays C~urt was present and~ requested a'street
light on Rays Court. This matter was tabled until the
Board could look at the area.
Mr. Robert Gilbreth was presnet on the question 0f a road near
his property at Dioness,~stated that an old proprietors
road went to the Beach, Eng. Barrett who was present.~
stated that ,these roads did not go to the water, however
this had no particular bearing on the matter inasmuch as
the who~e area nin front of Mr. Gilbreths property is
owned by the Town ,as park land and anyone can go anywhere
'; they desire on same. It appeared that what Mr. Gilbreth
was interested in was in having the town cut the-bank ,,
~ somewhere' in the ~icinity of his property so that it wbu
,be easire to get down on the beach as the bluff at this
; point .is quite ~igh. The matter was left with the'Board
to look at the area and see what action might be taken.
Mr. Josiah;S. Barrett, town Acct. was present ~nd' pres&nted a
letter requesting re-appointment as said town acct. for,
a three-.yeast term from 1 July 1958, same was voted approve
Mr; David Potter the-towns lifeguard at the 'Jetties Beach and Mr.
Grant Scott who is empooyed in'-the same capacity by the
lessee where present to meet the board. 'they. suggested
that some sign whould pe placed on the jetties barring
access beyond a certain poi,nt and it .was voted to have
Mr. Putterick make up same._ ,
A M'r. Grant-Bishop was present and' requested ,permission to do
commercial drawings, portraits.on Federal St. at 'the
~corner of Chestnut and same was voted approved on a
revocable basis. ' ' ~ ,
The matter of a fire'hydrant on Cliff Rd. he ar ~ Crooked Lnne_Ghich
had been requested at last weeks m~eeting was referred' to
the fire'chief to take up with the water Co. as'to the
.,. ~- proper location of same. .,
The following 'wer~ appointed public weighers at .the pit of blr.
Waiter Glowacki: Waiter F: Glowacki; Waiter J. Glowacki;
Mary Glowacki; ~.thelbert Dunham;, Jesse Eldridge.
Nantucket Pharmacy Inc. ~as' granted a renewal of their Soft Drink
License.
Aletter was received from Mr. and Mrs Beers suggesting that it
might be worthwhile to have signs erected at the heads
- of the various streets leading to the various wharfs
giving the name of the wharf and when it was founded, and
also what boat lines left.from same.'The Board'felt this
an excellent idea and voted to request the Historic Comm;'
'and or the Historical Society to suggest an appropriate

Police,that laxi operators should only solicil ,from along-~
side ibeir respective cabs and lhal'as regards lhe' parking
area on Pederal streel lhat cabs should use same if vacant
~and nol~park on Pederal slreet near Rogers corner~_if lhere
was space availab~ e in said ~axi s~mnd. '
