Selectmens Meeting 19 june 1958
The meeting' came to order at 8PM all members' of the Board being
present. ~
Warrant No. 25, totalling $13,595.52 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Charles C. Coffin, Town Clerk was present with a short term
note in the amount of $120,000 for signature of the Board.
Same was Voted approved and signed by the Board.
Mr. Marcus Ramsdell was present and complained as to the conditio~
of the Warrens Landing road, asked if he could be allowed
to put some fill on the road as he had asked the Supt. of
streets and only one load had been put on. It was voted to
refer this matter to the Supt. of streets.
Mr. Joseph Cabral was present and requested a permit for a dance
at Legion Hall on 3 July from 9PM to 2AM and a permit for
dances every Thurs during the summer from 9 to ~AM same
was voted approved he to provide a Sp. Police officer sa-
tisfactory to the Chief of Police. Mr. Cabral was also
granted a common vici. lic. to sell sandwiches etc. down-
stairs in the legion rooms during said dances.
The matter of the application of the Navy Wives club for a permit
for a block dance on 4 July from 9 to 1AM was again dis-
cussed, the Board having conferred with the Chief of Poi~ce
and he having no objections, same was voted approved. Lo-
cat,on Pearl St. between Federal and N. Union.
The following licenses and pe~'mits were granted: Patrick McCarthy
dba The Quahog, Main street, common vici. closing hour 2AM.
Cliff Side Bath Houses, Galley, Common Vici.; William D.
Beers,The Skipper, Common Vici.; Gordon Folger, dba Gordon
Folger Hotel, Innholders; Robt. Blair dba The Jib Club
Common Vici, Soft drink and ice cream.
John Meilbye and Phillip Grant dba Nant. Sea Foods, Common
Vici. Opera House, Piano and vocalist entertainment week
days only.
The loll'owing were appointed Sp. Police officer on re¢0mmendation
of Chief Ho~es: Chs. J. Gardner, Lewis Ray and Gilbert
Docca.
A letter was received from Mr. Morris Ernst requesting dead end
~ .street signs on monomoy rd and referred to the supt. of
ii ~ streets for attention.-
A pole location on Bear street was voted approved the two abutter
having written they had no objections.
It was voted that the Warrant prepare'd by the Town Counsel for thc
dog officer be approved and signed by the Ch. and forwarded
to the dog officer Mr. Hull.
There bein.g no further business the Board went into executive
session and adj. at 10.30 PM.
EXECUTIVE SESSEION:
It was voted to have the comfort sra. at the Jetties beach openen¢
for the season.
The matter of beach grass at the Childrens Beach was discussed
and it was voted to refer matter to Sutp. of streets for
attention by Mr. Burchell.

the Supt. of streets to elimanate as same,had never been
approved by the Board. , '
It was vo~ed that Mr. Barrett inquire of the Fire Chief as to,
,, a fire box on Lindberg Ave. in Sconset which had been
voted by the town meeting. ._ , ' ,,,
