' - Warrant No. totalling . -: was presented by'Town ~, Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes Of %he previous meeting were read and approved. Messers Towhill and Chase were ~resent'and ~advised the Bo~d that the,application'from the DPU for bus line permit from N. Liberty street over Cliff Rd.,Highland St. Lincoln St. N. Beach street and Hulbert Ave.,and Easton streets was not " , a new route,but that they had been operating over this~route for ten years on a special-permit and this application was : only to make the.permit permanent. None of the Board were opposed to same and no action was taken. A letter was received from George C. Hutchinson Jr. requesting a taxi license~to run a Jeep, beach sightseeing service. and same was not approved. Bids were received and opened on carting rubbish at sp6ci~ie~ town and county bldgs for the balance of the Year as follows Myles Reis .... 187.50 l Nathan Thurston---142.50. Albert Johnsen Sr.--405.00 It was voted that the-contract be awarded to the lowest bidder, Thurston. A letter was [eceived from Chief Bartlett advising that,a survey had bee~ made by himself, Supt. of streets Jaeckle and Chief Howes and recommending that Gay and India s~reets be no parking on the N. side. It was voted to try same on Gay~St. first and that effective 1 June parking be allowed on Gay street on the South side only Mr. r~ank Rebimbas was granted'a renewal of his ice cream and soft drink licenses. Alice Roberts d~a The Roberts House was'granted a renewal'of her Innholders license Mrs Arthur Stetson dba The Stetson House was granted a renewal of her Innholders lic. '- ~ ~: Esther Gibbs dba N. Shore Rest. was g~anted a renewal of her , innholder license. - ,' ' ~ ~ Mr. Williw House~ dba the Chicken Box rest. was granted a renewal ~-of his entertainment lic. for juke box, with the condition that same be toned down after 10PM. A sunday license was also approved on the same'conditions. An application,from' Clement Reynolds dba The.Inn Sconset ~s ~for a renewal of'his seasonal ~1 alcoholic license was. received and voted to take the'course,prescribed by'law. A notice was received from the Land Court relative,to the pet. of Clinton and Philip Murray to reg; their~title to land i'n the creek area, as same seemed to include the towns shore reservation and the old railroad right of way same was~re- ferred to the town counsel to file objections in our behalf. The Secy. advised that tWO Eng. from the Prov. office of-the'- army eng. were coming to,hte island on Sat. at 9.30 to look at the point area, the eastern jetty and the channel depth. It was voted to advertise a public hearing on harbor 'improvement~ jetties, to be held at the Cyrus Pierce Aud. on Tues at 8PM. P. Smith for the vs~ requested that the' memorial day and other patroitic holidays appropriations be under the control of the VSW assisted by the VF~: and the Legion as in p[eyious years and same was voted approved.. ~ letter was received from' Mrs~'Sanfor~ r~lative to li~ter on the roads and referred to the Supt.,of sgreegs. It was voted ~o advertise that ~h~ week May 18~b thru 24th is set as clean up week.- ~ . ...... It Was voted to pay the bill,of the Wannacomet' Water Co. previously submitted for fire protection. Mrs Gloria Dub~ck was reappointed Life Guard at the Chiidrens beach on Francis St. for the coming summer season. There being no further business th~ Board went into executive session a~d adj. at 10.30 PM. Executive Session:'~ ~, ~" 'voted' that~a letter be sent th~ caretaker~of the ,town dump ~o the effect that all rubbish deposited bec~e the p~0pert of the town and could not be removed without his ?ermission. 'Voted t6 see what could be done in a dipolo~atic way to 'get Mildred Jewett to clean~up her place of business' at Madaket Voted to'approve a lease to Cbs. Houston'of the day camp bldg. at the~Jetties at the rental of $500'00 per year. ~
