Barrett and checked and approved by ~he Board ....
Mr. ~oesrocher, C. D. director was present and presented
forms for signatures of the board relative to our ma%ching
fund request on ~he Fire Dept. radios, s~e were signed by
the Board. Mr. Desrocher also advised that a national test
alert was being held in May and ~equested authorization to
have the fire horn sounded, same was approved p~ovided an
add was ca, tied in the local papers advising the public that
s~e was only a test.
Mr. Robert Ha~dy Ch. of the Public 'zelations committee was pre-
sent and presented a report of the committee and an outline
of their plans, stated that requests fo~ information were
ahead of last~yea~.
Ii was voted to authorize the committee to purchase curtaine
and drapes ~to ~eplace the old venetian blinds. It was~also
voted to authorize the committee to have the telephone booth
which is to be set up at Woods Hole with a direct line to
~the information bureau du~ing the summer, painted.
Bids were submitted on the printing of 15,000 extra bro-
cures fo~ the Public,relations committee as follows: ,

voted that s~e be awarded to the lowest bidder the Inq.
Mirror.
Bids were received and opened on the Jetties. Beach bath houses
as follows:.
Robert T. Cu~rie $3,510.00--4Sidney Killen $2,800.00 with
and alternate bid with the lessee agreeing to clean the
beach from the Jetties to the dunes of $1900.00; Willi~
Miko $4,99q.00 each bid for a yea~s rental on a three year
lease. It was voted that .these bids be taken under advisemen
Allens ~Lobster Grill was granted a ~enewal of their Sunday ent.
license subject to approval by the ~. Comm. Public Safety.
The Islander Inc. was gr~nted a renewal Si its soft drink lic.
Rogers In~, was g~anted a renewal of its Common. Vict. soft
drink, milk and ice c~eam licenses.
The~Odd ~eliows enc~p~ent was granied a permit for a parade on
Sat. from the zoom to the Boat and =etuzn, they to notify
the police dept. of the exact times etc.
The High~Schooi was granted a permit for the May' prom at the
Audotozium on May 9th from 9 to 1~
Mattie Empson was granted a renewal of her Innholdezs Lic. at
1 Pleasant St.
A ropy'of a letter to Sen. Kennedy f~om George Vigouzux was
received relative the d~mage at Beachside and asserting
- that he believed same was caused by the fact that the
Jetty had sunk. This was discussed and it was pointed out
'that the ~. ~e~ty was a half tide jetty, designed for the
purpose of g~vxng a scouring action to the tide in the
channell and not for the purpose of protecting property and

A form' notice was received from the DPW that work had been~'
begun'on Monomoy road.
A request was received from Russell Pope reqhes'ting signs on
Delaney and Derrymore Rd. and that Delaney road be placed
on the list of road to be oiled, same was approved and
forwarded to the Supt. of streets for attention.
Mr. reported that a slow sing on W. Chester St. near
Sunset Hill was not necessary and should be moved up the '.
street near the corner of N. Liberty. same was~referred~to
the Supt. of streets_for attention.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
Session to discuss welfare and other matters and adj. at
Welfare: The matter of the application of,Leslie Fountain for
assistance i'n paying Hosp. and Drs bills totalling around
$1500,00 was disucssed it appearing that he~ could be put
on the diability assistance program which would, take care
of any subsequent bills at only ~ of the total cost to the
town but had stated he did not want to go on this program
because it would necessitate a lien on his house. It was
voted to advise him that the only way ~mx we would pay the
present bills would be for him to cooperate by signing Op
off the-disability assistance program.
The board"discussed'the matter Of participating in the cost
of the appeal to the U.S.' Supremen court of the ruling of
the Mass court upholding the constitutionality of the act
making it,mandatory to run daily ferry type trips to N. ,Bed-
ford and to build a ferry slip, it appearing that the Vineya:
had voted to participate in this appeal and~that the estimat~
costs would be about $2500.00.,It was voted to have a special
meeting with the Finance Committee on Pri at 7.30 PM to dis-
cuss the matter with them ....
It was voted to' sign a brok~er Of record notice .with the Eating
bureau relative to our town insurance, 'for C.A.P.Johnson
which would termintate the authorization previously given
for a 30 day period to Mr. Leske.
The matter of the.group insurance on town employees was disucsse~
and it was voted that same be renewed for one year with ,the
present carriers, the Boston Mutual and the Blue Cross and
It~was voted to have a meeting on th~ q~estion of the ,lease Of
the jetties beach when Ch. Pease returned the 1st of the wee~
