The meeting came to order at 7.30 PM all members of the Board
being present.
Warrant No. 9,~totalling $20,056 13 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board ~.
Minutes of the preCious meeting and organizationl meeting were
read and approved.
Mr. Ripley Nelson ~f the Historic Districts Commission was pre-
sent and presented the Board a copy of the organizationl
set up of said Commission. And advised that their regular
meetings would be held on 1 the 2nd and 4th Wed. of each
month at 7.30 PM.
Fir. Robert R. Leske Jr. was present and discussed with the Board
his views on'the Town insurance coverage and reques, ted that
he be given an authorization to look at the rating bureau
records. The Board voted to table this matter until we could
determine from the rating bureau if this would in ani w~y
interfere with the authorization on record'of the rep-
resentative of the agents who now handle this coverage.
The Board discussed the matter of the seasonal estimate of in-
creased popultion~for the purposes of seasonal aiixalcoholic
beverage licenses and on motion duly made and seconded
Voted that the estimate be set the same as l~st year, namely
16,100.
It was voted to visit Our Island Home at llAM On Friday to lay
out work to be done on various rooms.
A letter~was recei.ved from Frederic Kaufman protest ing'~ the use
of the Childrens Beach for a Boat landing area,' andplaced
on file. '
A list of Sp. Police officers was presented,by Chief Howes and
approved by'the Board as follows: Otis S. Nickerson,Herbertl
L' Cole, Luther F. Fernald, Stewart Mooney,.Charles Handy,
Ernest Lema Jrl, John Morgan, Robert Blair, Charles Chambers
Fred J. Furlong, Lincoln Lewis, Clyde Cartwright,Thomas
Towhill, John Caddigan, George Daum, Clarence Swife, Robert
Deel.ey, Bernard J. Holmes, Eldr'ed Gardner, Thomas Gibson,'
Roswell Holmes, George Lusk, William Garnett and Merwin'Blou
The Board was in receipt of a request for a street light on New
Lane by Mrs Mary Marks and voted to approve same .and to in-
quire of the Co. the cost of an'additonal light near the
Mill Pond to light same during periods when the pond is used
for skating .... ~) .~
A letter was received from the U.S.Attys 6ffice, Boston enclosing
a copy of the condemnation proceedings relative to land
' near Mioxes pond and voted to be recorded at the Reg. of Dee,
A notice' of various~bills relative to additionsl holidays in Mass
was received and placed on file.
Mr. Vincent Arnro Was granted a renewal of his Common'Vici. Lic.'
at S. Water St.
The Board voted that Secy. Glidden be authorized to sign various
licenses and permits as may be approved by the Board from
time to time during the ensuing year in the Boards name.

A'letter was rece'i$'~d from Albert L. Silva,'tnede~ing his res-
ignation from the Finance Committe, which was~accepted with
regrets with the Board voting that a letter be sent Mr.
Silva thanking him for his many years of service on this
committee. ~'
An offer was received from Mr. Lawrence Miller suggesting 'that
a bicycle path along the bottom the the Cliff Bluff might
take a lot of bike tarffic off Beach road and that if other
property owners in the area were interested he would be
willing to deed off.a strip in the 'land he owns in this
area. This matter.was voted to be referred to theplanning
board, and Mr. Miller to be thanked for his suggestion and
offer.
It was voted to advertise for application for town and county
appointive positions, to be in the hands of the Board by
8PM Thurs'13 March 1958.
It was voted that the opinion of the Town Counsel be requested
on articles 73 and 100 of .the last annual warrant for the
guiadance of the Board.
It was voted to requ4st the various dept. heads to comPile any
necessary specifications for work or purchases to be put
out to bids and.go over same with the Board so that we might
go forward with advertising same.
The Board discussed the matter of Broad Creek crossing'ind it was
felt that it might be a good move to not spend furhter money
in trying to keep this crossing open in the~winter, but to~
in its stead fill and grade Deleware Ave. for use by fisherm~
in the winter as a landing, and that Bzoad Creek crossing
be opened up and graded in the late spring after winter sotr~
had passed. It was suggested that we discuss this mattwr wit]
Mr..Jaeckle at our commissioners meeting next week.
It was voted to write' Mr. Sellew authorizing the state to proceed
with the advertising for the Monomoy Rd. project.
The Board went into executive session to discuss welfare matters

Voted to advise the Pinance committee that we wou~ld Make
available to them our copies of the weekly warrant and that
we would instruct the town z~mxkxmm~ accountant to make
available to them his office where the bills and vouchers
are filed for their monthly meetings
The Board discussed,a form of Contract of the 300th Ann-
iversary Committee presented by Mr. Jones and same was dis-
cussed and ssggested changes made.
