HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-02-20Selectmens Meeting ---20 February 1958 The meeting came' to order at 7.30 PM all members of the Board being present. Warrant No. 8, totalling $17,737.34 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bids Were received and opened on the old LaFrance Fire truck and misc. equip, at the fire station as advertised: John Walsh--[-$127.78 A.F. Sylvia Jr. --k$75.00 Voted sold to lowest bidder, Mr. John Walsh. An application for a permit to store gasoline in one 275 gal. underground tank at the airport near the Quonsett hut housing weather bureau equipment and generator was received from Mr. Geddes of the weather buread and date for hearing set for 5 March at 10AM at the site. A lette~ was received from Mr. Jules Theabaud inquiring about an article he had read in one of the local papers as regards a state park on the south shore and placed on file. Application for~ approval of pole locations on Milk street ext- ension near Hummock Pond road were received from the Nant. tucker Gas &Elec. Co. and the Amer. Tell & Tel. and voted approved a hearing on same not being necessary. Letters were received from A. G. Brock Co. 'and Congdon and Cole- man advising that they would bind any town insurance ex- piring on March 1st and filed. Mr. J. R. HaSkell'was granted a renewal of his Commdn ~ict. license at the corner of Main and Whale streets, Town. ^ letter of ~esignation from the Finance committee was received from G. Elmore Taylor, accepted with regrets and placed on file. A letter of thanks for services rendered to go for- ward to Mr. Taylor. A letter was received from Mr. Arthur B. Gibbs relalive to a boat landing area and or a Marina and placed on file. It Was voted to request Rev. Bradford Johnson to give the invocation at the Annual Town meeting. It was voted to draw up and offer to the Town Meeting a resolutio as regards the Steamship Authority, with reference to the payment of any deficit assessment and requesting the Gov. to declare a moratorium for five years on any deficits. ~There being no further business the Board went into executive session to discuss welfare matters and aj. at 9.50 PM.
