The meeting came to' order at 7.59 PM .having been preceeded
by a county Commissioners meeting,, all members of the
Board being present. :
Warrant ~ No. 6, totalling $8483.96 was presented by Town Acc
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
,Xtinutes of the previous meeting were read and 'approved..
Mr. Nestor Richards, Pres. 0f',the Fishermens Asso. was pre-
sent and advised that the Fishermens Asso. had voted
in favor of the Childrens Beach area being bulkheaded
and made into a Marina. The Board. also discussed with
Mr. Richards the matter of the ^sso. objections to the
bill filed by the Board to authorize a lease of ~-~e a
portion of the Jetties Beach.
The Board met with Chief Bartlett of the Fire. Dept. and dis -
cussed the matter of the Legion Fire and Police patrol.
the chief advised that he had informed the post in 195 6
that if .these men who were appointed by the Board did
not get sworn in he could not use them and would not p ay
them, in 1956 ail but one got sworn in. In 1957 only
four were sworn in and that is what he paid the Post
for when he advised he was discountnuing the matter.
The Board felt that this matter was an administrative
problem and within the chief8 authority and voted to
so advise the Post.
The Board also discussed with the Chief the transfer of th e
old'Sconset Ford truck to the Airport and while no rot e
was taken it-was the sense of the meeting that this be
done.
It was voted that we advertise.for bids for the disposal o f
the old LaFrance 75 Gal pumper and misc. equipment at
vthe fire station, as authorized by the last annual tow n
meeting. ..
Chief Bartlett suggestdd that it might be'helpful in an
emergency if parking on oneway and narrow streets about
town was allowed only on the side the utility poles
were'located on, the idea being that if this was done
a fire truck could get up the street by driving par-
tially on the curbing.~It was voted to have Chief
Bartlett, Chief Howes and Supt. of streets Jaeckle
make a survey and report to the Board.
It was~voted to write the Wannacomet Water Co. on there
plans relative to cleaning out additional water Maines
and also with reference to our prevous letter re-
questing an adjustment in water charges.
On the same subject it was voted to inquire of the
Siasconset Water Commissioners whether they had any
plans for Main cleaning.
A letter was received from the Sewer Dept. requesting use o f
the old lock-up for storage, inasmuch as we had already
granted this area to the planning board it was voted t o
advise the Sewer Commission that a room in the Sanford
House might be available.,
A notice was received from the'~DPW advising 'of the appiication
of Lawrence Miller for apermit to const, finger piers
in the basin at St. Wharf, and filed.
Congdon & Coleman, Ins. agents advised of various suggestio ns
which would lower the towns ins. rates and it was vote d
to refere same to the various depts concerned.

Mr~ DOnald Allen was granted~a renewal ofhis Class II
used car dealers license.
Mrf R~y~or M. Gardner wrote Objecting.to.the use of the
Childrens Beach area for the construction of a
" Marina.
A letter was received from Mr.'Morris L.,Ernest relative
to the Monomoy Rd.~ and placed on fi~e.'
There being no further business the Board went into'
executive session to discuss Welfare matters..
The matter of the hospital,bill of Mr~ LaFountain was:''.
discussed and it,was decided to obtain a revised bill
on a per day b~sis before taking any action on this
case.
