HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-12-05Selectmens' Meeting 5 December 1957 The meeting Came to order'at~ ~PM having been preceeded by a County Commissioners Meeting, all members of the Board being present except Secy. Glidden. Mr. Hardy served as Secy Pro Tem. ~ Minutes Of the~previ0us meeting were read and approved. Warrant No. $14,7~2~05.'was presented'by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved byh the Board. Mr. Matthew Jaeckle Supt. of streets conferred with the Board relative to the erection of snow fence in the Broad Creek area, stated that he had only about 1500 feet of fence available and that Broad creek needs 2400 feet. After dis- cussion it was agreed that some of the snow fence sholuld be used on the East side of the former Bardsley property and some on the West side. ' Mr. Kenneth Eldridge in behalf of the Nantucket Grange was granted a permit'for a dance at the Grange Hall on Dec.20th from 8PM till Midnite, Mr. Chs. Chambers to serve as Sp. POlice.' Mr. Nathan Thurston was granted a renewal of his permit for the transportation of garbage for the year 1958. A hearing having been held on'the siee at-10.30 AM and no object- ions having been received it was voted that the application of the Nant. Gas &Elec. Co. for a permit to store No. 6 fuel oil in one 420,000 Gal. tank, above ground be approved. The application of Lawrnece Miller for a permit to store white gasin one 500gal underground tank was tabled. The Board was in receipt from the Pishermens Asso. of an invitatio: to attend their annual banquet with their wives on Sat. 14 Dec. at Legion Hall. Bids werereceived from the Inq. and Mirror 1 and Town Crier for printing 200 warrants for use at 'the special Town Meeting as ~ollows: Inq. & Mirror 7.85; Town Crier 9.50 and it was voted that same be awarded to the lowest bidder. It was voted to write Cong. Nicholsen with reference to the dred- ging of the entrance channel at the Jetty. It was veo ed to have all depts have their budgets ready b~ the week of Dec. 16th for discussion with the Board, a sch. to be set up. : Town'Meeting It was voted that the Warrant for the Annual/~azxu~ be opened this date and time and that same may close on 26 Dec. 1957.
