A letter was received from Rep. 'Robert Mooney ~ith reference
the forthcoming Stemship Augh. hearing and placed on file.
A letter ~as received from the Ch. of the School Committee
questing a transfer of $6,000 to the School Dept.
Mr. Porter the Supt. was called and asked go come do~ and
discuss this matter with the Board which he did. After dis-
cussion 'it was voted to have a Sp. meeting with the ~in~ce
Committee on Mon. the 18th at 7.30 PM and to request the
To~ Acct. to be present also.
Notice was received from the Airport Commission requesting the
Board call a Sp. Town meeting to have the voters consider
the matter of appropriating 40,000 as our share of the cost
of extending the NE. SW rundway 1,000 feet ~o the SW and
it was voted to table this matter until discussion with
the ~inance Committee on Monday. the 18th.
A letter was received from Dr. Norman B. MacWillims and one
Stephen K. Herlitz relative to the ocean breaking through
at the Broad Creek corssing near their properties and
questing that ~hei Board meet ~ith them go discuss this
matter. Mr. Pease was appointed a co~ittee Of one to
vise that we would be happy to discuss this matter ~ith the~

of ~he generator and other equipment on a matching fund
basis and voted referred to Mr. Arthur Desrocher the local
director. . - -
Application was received from the Nant. Oas tilec}' C0; for a
permit to erect a 420,000 gal oil storage tan~ at their
property on ~hale St. and an application fromm Sherburne
Oil Co. for a permit to store marine white gas in a'500 gal
underground tank at straight wharf. Date for hearings on
both of these applications was set for 5 Dec. 1957 at 10.30
· t ~as voted ~o inquire of Dr. Collins the to~ physician 'as to
whe~eher or not flue shots were available for ~o~ employee~
from the state.
It was voted go have the Sup~, 0f streets have bills for work
on rutted roads itemized on a per day basis and no~ on the
basis of hours per week.
It was vo~ed to have the To~ Nurses car lettered on the doors
"Nantucket ~alth Dept." s~e ~o be done by Gordon M~r. Co.
as per bid.
I~ was voted to have no parking signs removed from S. Nater St.
from Main to C~bridge for l~he winter months.
It was voted to have the shellfish warden check on seed scallops
at ~he mouth of Polpis Harbor and advise if same should be
moved.

a paymen~ to the Commonwealth of Mass on the ste~ship auth.

Counsel as to whether o~ not the town ever voted to accept
the responsability of paying any defecit of ~he authority.
Mr. A~thu~ Desroche~, lock1 Civilian Defense directo~ ~as present
and requested ~ appropriation of $200.00 to be used to
purchase various a~ticle of surplus property through the
C.D. as no funds were available at ~his time for transfer

Mrs Cho Hall of the Workshop Theater Inc. requested permission to
have a Model T. Fo~d car aprked in front of the A. G. Brock
foffice on Main St. on which will be adv. forthcomong'Production
of this group, from 2 Dec. to 11 Dec. It was voted to allow
same to be parked in front of the Cora Stevens shiop on Main stre~
for theperiod requested.
Mr, ~enneth Eldridge~was granted a permit in behalf,0f the Nant.
Grange for a dance on Nov, 29th at the Grange Hall from 8PM
to midnite.
Mr. Kenneth Eldridge was present and lodged a protest against
what he claimed was the construction of a garag~ 9n a pub-
lic way in Sconset by one Allen Field. Mr. Field,was called
on the phone and stated that his deed showed that he owned
thisproperty. He was requested to make sure of thispoint.
Alcoholic_beverage renewal applications were received 'from the
following and voted to take the course prescribed by law:
James T. Worth,-Sankath Head Gold,Francisco T. Rebimbas~ H.
and Felemina Ryder, and Antone John Souza
I letter was received from the South Eastern Mass.-Economic Conf.
relative to booths for adv.~ at the Brockton fair and voted
referred to the Public relations committee.
On m0{ion made and seconded it was voted that the Warrant for
the Sp. town meeting be o~ened, meeting to be at Legion Hall
on 6 Dec. 1957 at SPM and that following articleslbe in-
serted. 40,000 for extension of runway at Nant. Airport;
1000.00 and authority to the Airport Commission to take
land for approach protection; Transfer 6,000 from available
funds to the School dept. budget.
On motion made and seconded it was Voted that the Warrant be
closed.
A letter from the town counsel with reference to the action ne-
cessary for the taking of land for the airport was received
and placed on file. ~ ' ,,.
It was voted that the Chief of Police be reqeusted to take what-
ever Rction is provided by law to dispose of the old bicycle
collected by his dept. ..

the state.
