Selectmens Meeting
3 October 1957 ....... 7.45 PM
All members of the Board being present.
Warrant No. 40, totalling $12,933.10 was presented by town
accountant Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Arthur Desrocher, applicant for the position of Civilian
Defense Director conferred with the Board, and it was
voted to postpone action on this matter until next week
when he would had had an opportunity to discuss the duties
envolved with Mr.~Morgan the retireing director.
Miss Cathy Morris, Miss Betty Shea and Miss Carol Nichilas were
present with reference to their request for a permit to
hold a dance at.the Grange Hall on Fri. evening,'as it
appeared that none of the applicants were 21 the said permit
was granted to Mr. Cecil Richrod Jr. who applied for same
in their stead, the approved hours being from 9 to 12.
A proclamation was received from the Oov. noting that Fire pre-
vention week is to be held Oct. 6th to 12th 1957 and placed
on file.
A letter was received from Morris'Ernst protesting any inprove-
merits to the Monomoy road and placed on file.
An application for pole locations on W. York lane was received
and the date for hearing set for 10 Oct. 57.
A letter was received from the Supt. of streets relative to our
request for putting the seal coat sand in the town park
land at the corner of N. Beach and Jefferson avenue, and
noting that 'he had an agreement with Mr. Silva to-use his
land for a disposal area provided he would give him some
good fill at times to cover it properly. The Board approved
this matter,but with the condition .that .priority should be
given the filling of the town land and that the bulk of this
seal coat sand should go there.
An application was received from Mr. Elwyn Francis Sr. for the
position of deputy shellfish warden and placed on file for
one week.
A letter was received from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield noting
an increase in benefits and a slight decrease in cost and
filed.
A letter was received from the DPH noting that. they had no ob=
jection to the construction of a 16 pile dolphin off the
steamer .landing, and placed on file.
There being no further business the Board Went int'o executive
session to discuss a welfare matter and adjourned at 10PM.
Welfare: The board approved the applicat~ion of Mr. Manuel G. Rosa
for admission to OUr Island Home, the rate set being $30.00
per week this amount being his ability to pay.
