Minutes of. .the pre. vi. 0us meeting were read_and~ approved.
Warrant No. 33, totalling~'$19~0.99~was pres~'ted'by Town'Acct.
Barrett and ?heck~e.d' a.nd.app~o~ed, by. ~h~Board.. ........
Mr~s R6bert 'Le~ke and' M~s 'Chs .' Swain of 'planned playtime were
pressnt and discussed~ W'ith'~the board'the matter of the ne-'
6essa~y ~xterio~ stairway and door So that planned playtime
could use the upst~ir~ rbom ~tn the'comfort station bldg.' The
Board were of 'th'e'opinion that 'thi~ work could not be com-
pleted with'the appropriation available'but suggested that
we obtain specifications'and'advertise same for bids to de-
termine Just what thi. s Job cguld be done for.
A letter was' received from Miss' MarJorie Hull 'thanking the Board
for placing the bicycle stands at surfside e. tc.
Mr. Lawrence K. Miller was granted a class I used car dealers
li.cense dba White Whale Chevrolet 8-10 Washington St. Town.
The Nantucket Yacht Club was granted a permit for a dance on Fri.
Aug. 30th from 9 to 2 AM
A form notice was received from the AiB.C.C.' relative to closing
hours on Labor day and referred to the police dept.
A letter was received from the commissioner bf veterans services
Stating that he had visited'the island'and w~s well pleased
with thc'man,er in which M~. Sculley our agent was handling
this service.
The Board was' in receipt' of a ph0to~tatic copy of the legislative
bill relative to .~i_cyc.l.e paths.
William Haddon'was granted'a oez~hit to' erect a sign at his place
of business on Main strset same ~ having been aporoved as .to
form by the Historic Districts commission.
The Board'was in receipt of a partial list of'hedges about town
which encroach on'the street or sidewalk, from the Supt. of
streets and it was voted to'write'each Of those named a
request to have same cdt back this fall.
A letter, was received from Justin A. McCarthy re'lattve to~our
lette~ on testing fire hose and suggesting that'the only .
proper manner was tb ~send whatever lengts we desired'tested
to him'and arrangements would b~ mad~ to have them tested by
the Boston Fire D~pt. testing dept.' at which test the chief
and any bf the Board could'be present. Same was referred to
the Chief of the Fire Dept~ .....
The board th6n went into executive session and adjourned at
9.45 PM~ ..
