Meeting~ convened as~'Selectmen at 9.15 PM~havtng been preceeded by a county commissioners meeting. Warrant No* 32, tota~iing $26,~9~7.21 was presented by town acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr..William Burdick Sr. was before the Board and stated that he could not obtain work and asked for work on the highway dept. No vote was taken on this matter but it was the sense of the meeting to refer"th~s matter to the highway dept. with the suggestion that if there was any money available this man might be employed in cleaning some of the town beaches. The board discussed street lights and ir'was voted to' approve new installations at Main street N. side near Kilvert and ~y~ts ~ property and on North street near the turn into the property of Maurice Kiley. The Eastern Star was granted permission to use the Sanfo~d House grounds for a food sale on 24 Aug. BT. Mr. Fred Linton was granted a renewal of his Pastettrization permi~ Mr. Daniel Connell applied for a permit to sell wines and malt beverages at legion hall in conjunction with dances being . operated, y The Board discussed this matter and voted not to approve~same. The VFW was granted a permit to sell poppies on l~ August 1957. The hospital drive committe was granted permission to sell tickets from a table on Main street on Aug. 16-1~-!8-19-20th. Mr. Carl Wyer wrote requesting a~curb at his property on Orange street and same was placed on file. Mr. Walter~ J. 'Glowacki was grante.d a fenwal ofhis Junk Dealers license at 01~ South road. Mr. Henry B. Coleman was granted a fenwal of his auctioneers ~liee~ A letter was received~from a master George Hadela~ relative to~ digging for Indian relics and suggested we advise him that there were no public sites.
