The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the Board being
pre sent.
Wan~ant No. ~l totalling $14,691.46 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and appnoved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
A letter was received from Mrs~ Stephen He'rlitz being a copy of
a letter sent to Mr. G. Gardner Pres. N.E. Airlines relative
to their service, and was voted referred to the Airport
Commiss ion~
A letter was received f~om the DPW advising' that the annual
County h~aring fo~ Nantucket would be on Aug 23rd at 10AM
at the Sanford~House and asking if this time and date were
satisfactory. It was so voted. ~
Miss Marjorie Hull~ wrote protesting the parking of bicycles
against hen fence at Surfside and it was voted to have the
Supt. of streets place any avaliable bicycle stands at
the town land near Miss Hulls residence ~aud to also post
a sign calling attention to fact that bicycles should not
be parked against the fence.
M~ and Mrs Hibbert Conrad, Sparks Ave. wrote requesting a St.
light nea~ their residence. The Board inspected said pre-
mises after the meeting~and voted to install a light bet-
ween the Conrad residence and that of Dean T. Ross and one
at the co~ner of Sparks ave. and Lower orange st.
Island Chev~olte wrote requesting permission for a sign at their
propenty on Washington street, not to overhang the street
and same was voted approved.
The V~ pre~ented their list for the fire and police ~atrol and
same having been endorsed by the chief was voted approved
as follows:Lionell Start, Walter S. Barrett, John Clankson,
Wm. Giffo~d, F. W. VanArsdale, 0. S. Nickerson, Byron Mo~ney
John C. Beamish Jr. Walten D. Glidden, Jr., Manuel Machado,
George H. Gannett, Frank H. Powers, Robert M. Ray, Jer~y
Towhill and Roger King.
Mr. Dan connell was granted a permit ~to ~un dances at Legion Hall
from 9~to 12 on Sa~s in Aug. and on Fni. Aug. ~1 till ! AM
ar~i was also~granted a soft dnink license at said place.
The Board went over the 'lease for the Jetties beach and after
discussion it was voted to change one paragraph, of same.
The n~tten ~of the chain stores parking large tracto~ trailen
units on main street was disucssed but no action taken as
we had no formal application beforeus.
It Was bnought to the Boards attention that parsons were dumping
rubbish on the property of Albe~t L. Silva on N. Beach St.
and'it was usggested that a sign be erected probihiting same.
M~. Hardy was appointed a committee of one to take this up
with M~. Silva.
There being no further business the meeting adj. at 9.1§ PM.
