W~rrant No. 96,~ totalling $4V,054.51 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were re~d and~ approved. Joseph Cabral was present and discussed withthe Board the matter of a permit for a da~e on the 4th at Legion Hall which the Board had limited to 1AM after discussion it was voted to authorize extension of the time to 2AM with the understanding that Mr. Cabral was to be responsible for any disturbancees and the providing of responsible Specila Polic Mr. Barrett was recorded as opposed. Mr. Matthew Jaeckle Supt. Of streets met with the Board and discussed Broom use by the new street sweeper, stated that he felt the sweeper was operating effecieutly and that the broom use was not unusual for equipment of this type. The Board discussed the matter of curbs authorized and those installed and the following figures were presented: N. Liberty St.. New Dollar Lane 01d N. Wharf Lwr. Pleasant St. Walsh St. Estimated 94 feet Installed 10V feet Esti~e t6dL~3 6c f. eet " 40 " 50 feet " 52 " 100 feet' " lll " do to catch basin 162 feet. Purchased 429 feet new curb installed 4V2 feet. There was discussion of an apparant misunderstanding of the amount to have been installed on N. Liberty street, the Board feeling that 50 feet had been agreed upon. It was voted that the balance of the curb appropriation under both articles be expended on Walsh street and Loawr orange for labor and using curb on hand.. The Hospital was~ granted approval subject to approval by the Stat to hang sraall pl~vood insignia from the lower bracket of various street signs during their drive. A letter was received from Mrs. Tuttle, N. Liberty St thanking the Board for the curb installed at her property. ~ne Board were advised that Mr. Peter Hu~sey was the oldest m~le resident according to the Town Clerk and should be presente the Boston Post Cane. Ch. Pease was appointed a con~nittee of one to arrange same. A letter was received from the Day Trust Co. Trustees uW0 Frankl~ E. Smith protesting the laying out of a section of road~ near the head of Hummock pond designated as Massosoit Rd. East and advising that they had an agreement to sell said land for $4,000 and would be damaged to that extent if the road were laid out as proposed. This matter was referred t( the Assessors for information as to the value of said land same to be then delivered to the County Clerk. It was voted that the next regular meeting of the Board ~e on Wednesday due to the Holiday on Thurs. The followiu.~ licenses and permits were ghanted: White ';lephant Hotel, entertainment Sydney Conway, Driving range, soft drink Nant. Pharmacy, Soft drink The airport Commission applied for a permit to store Ay. gas in an underground tank at the airport and the date for heari~ was set for !! July at ~PM. Selectme~s Meeting 27 June 195V It was voted~to s'end~a telegram~to the meeting of the Steamship Authority being held in Boston, tomorrow, protesting the schedule and the use of the new boat. The matter of r$~tauraut inspections was disucssed and it was voted to make an inspection of same if the state 'could not be induced to make same as in the past. The Board then went into executive session to disucss welfare ~atters and adjourned at lO.15 PM. Welfare: The Board Was in receipt~of an application from one Alma Backus for admission to Our Island Home as a Boarding patient. After disucssion'it was voted to approve same. rate to be $35.00 per week she to be responsible for medical and all other expenses. The Board approved'travel ~or Marjorie Tucker, ADC employee to take civil servide exam. in F~ll'River. It was Voted to authorize Mr. Putterick to engage Mike Todd and equipment to put up swings at Childrens beach. The Board'discussed the matter of the Jetties Beach and it was voted to have the Secy. confer with Ms. Gilbert Burchell Jr. and get his views on same with reference to glass etc. Adj. 10. 5 James K.
