All members of the Board present. The Board 1st met as County
Commissioners and convened as selectmen at @.50 PM.
Warrant No. 21, totalling $25,106.10 was presented by town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Harold Lindley was present relative to his applicetion for
an Innholde~s all alcoholic seasonal license, same having
been advertised as provided by law and the Board having
received no objection same was on motion made and seconded,
Voted: approved.
The matter of the appointments to the public relations committee
having been previously tabled was again brought up and on
motion duly made and seconded it was Voted that ?~. Robert
Murray and Mr. Albert V~itehill be appointed to this
committee.
A figure of $~00.00 was received f~om Stanley Whelde~ on in-
stalling toilets at the Jetties Beach and it was voted to
approve same if in accordance with specifications which
included a bubbler.
It was voted tb write again to the Wannacomet water Co. and in-
quire as to our previous request for an abatement of the
towns inch ft basis rate.
A letter was received and filed, from the Principal of Middleboro
High School advising that a group of students were to visit
Nantucket and that he hoped they would conduct themselves
a proper manner.
Mrs Roy F. Brockway wrote requesting permission to pai~two stree signs on Flora street and same was approved.
The follOWing licenses and permits were'granted:
Sankaty Caddy camp, Skipper, Common Vict. Breakers,
Wauwiuet House, entertainment, Knotty pines entertainment,
Chanticleer, innhSlders, Robt. Clark, driving range, Soft1
drink, Ropewalk entertainment, Bertha L. Hayden, Common
Juke box, Henry Bridges common vict, soft drink, ice cream,
with limit on closing no later than 2 AM.
A notice was received from the U.S. ARmy eng. relative to the
of the Steamship Auth to construct spiels and boar~ walk
and placed on file.
It was voted to write Mike Todd requesting removal of his equip- ment from Childrens beach.
It was voted .to have the supt. of streets remove the Hospital signs on West chester street.
It was voted to authorize the Fire Chief to advertise for sale certain obsolete equipment.
It was voted to advertise for bids for exterior painting of the
Sanfo~ House same to be in the hands of the Board by
~PM l~ June 195V.
There being no further business the Board went into executive session to discuss welfare matters and adj. at ll PM.
Welfare: Voted to approve application of
.' admission to Island Home, amount of rent left open
until report from Mr. Hardy.
