9 May 195V --- 7.30 PM
The meeting came to order at 8.30~ PM having first ~eb as County
Commissioners, all members except Mr. Hardy being present.
Warrant NO. 19~totallin $34,447.30 was presented by Town Acct;
Barrett and checked and approved~by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were r~ad and approved.
Bids were received on Carpentry and Masone~y work at Our Island
Home as follows:

It was voted that thee work be awarded the lowest bidder in
each case Clarence E. Lyon and Charles Q. No~ton.
M~. John Morgan was appointed a Sp. Police. officer, to serve
at Siasconset during the summer season, on request of Chief Howes
Mr. Robert Walsh wrote requesting co~ner blocks at his driveway
on Atlantic Ave. and Mr. Pease was committee~ of one to go
into this matter.
Mattie Empson was g~anbed a renewal of he~ Innholders Lic. at i
Pleasant ~t.
John L. Walsh applied for renewal of his Junk dealers license and
same was tabled until he had removed old cars from lower
pleasant street property.
M~s Chester Williams was granted a Common Vict. Ice cream and
soft d~ink license at the Nantucket Candy,Kitchen.
Mr.' Allen Holdgate at Airport Snack Bar was granted renewal of hi
soft d~ink license.
J. Gordon MacDonald~ dba DoWneyflake Doughnut Shop was granted a
renewal of their Common Vict. license.
Two applications for pole locations-were received, one fop Oak
street which was approved without a hearing and one for
N. Beach st and Mass Ave. hearing set for. 16 May 57.
The Boar~ ~ec~ived bids for the town employees insurance program
from the following companies:

._, The Board made no decision on which companies to contract
with at this time and tabled the matter until the full Board could
meet and discuss this program. ~,
'The Board then went into executive session to discuss a
welfare matter and adj. at 12.50 AM.

14 May 5~ i PM all members of the Board present.
Purpose: Group insurance contract.
The Board discussed the various proposals by the different
csmpanies and it appearing that Boston Mutual on the life and
accidental death and dismemberment and Blue Cross & Shied on
the hospitalization and surgical offered the best benefits it
was on motion made and seconded voted that the contracts for the
group insurance be awarded' these companies.
