Warrant No. 17, totalling $~5,621.50
Warden Winslow was present and discussed with the Board areas.,,
he would suggest for planting of seed quahogs if obtained
from th~ state presented plan showing two areas, one off
of what is called "Coots" in Madaket and the other near
the "Big Rock" so called in Pocomo. It was ~voted that
said areas be approved and that we try to obtain 100 bu
seed.
A survey of the seed scallop situation n~de by M~. Snow
complete with chart and comparision of surveys of other
years .was presented and discussed and it was voted to
authorize the Warden to move seed from area V bo area 8
as shown on said c~arts, both of these areas beaiug near
B~oad Creek, Madaket.
M~. Jaeckle supt. of streets was present and discussed with the
Board specifications for various items of streets work.
It was voted that we advertise for bids on Gen. Road Work
Contract, Bids on Nobadeer Way, Bids on Hoicks Hollow Road
and Bids on Art. 29. same to be in by ~ May 195~ 8 PM.
The Board discussed with the Supt. the Eatter of the hiring of
help to mow the shoulders of the various paved roads and
after discussion the matter was left as at present with
a motion being voted that any complaints envolving a dept.
head should be made in writing to the Board, before the
Board shall act on same.
A letter was received from the Mass Selectmens Asso. advising
of the start of the legislative hearings on the Sales Tax.
Mr. Marcus Ramsdell in behalf of the Pacific Club was g~auted
a permit to erect a staging at the club bldg. all four
sides, for one month.
A letter was received from Mr. Robert Mooney Rep. advising
that a hearing would be held on the Sheep Conm~ons bill
or enabling act next Wednesday at the state House, same
was referred to the Town Counsel.
A letter was received f~om Kath. Isbister noting her opposition
to the granting of a license to store pet. products at
end of Dock street.
A letter was received from Mr. Lathrop of the New Eng. Rating
Bureau, of Ins. Co. advising that he had examined the
plan of the proposed tank installation and that it would~
not effect the insurance rates of property in the vicinity
A letter was received f~om Mr. RalPh Carey, of Shell 0il Co.~
explaining that avaition gasoline was less dangerous to
handle that regular gas due to its design which is to
vaporize at high altitudes and not at sea level.
M~. Preston Manchester dba Upper Deck was granted a renewal of
his eut. peEnit for piano, weekdays and Sundays.
An application was received f~'om Mrs George DuBock for the
positon of life guard at the Childrens Beach. The matte~
was discussed and it appearing that Miss Nancy Simms who
was the guard last year had w~itten requesting reapp
it was voted that Mrs DuBock be appointed at the Chtldrens
Beach, Francis street if she desired.

A letter W~s received from Granfton S. Kenne Jr. relative ~
to comments~ by G.-M. Poland~,~on Sheep Commons and placed
on ft~:
Mr.~Thomas MCOrath'Jr. Was grant~ a renewal of his Junk dele~s
license.
~Frank Rose Jr. was granted renewal of his soft drink and
ice cream licenses dba Chuck Truck.
A letter was received frOm MrS Kermit Roosevelt asking if the
Board would approve'a transfer of the ice cream peddlers
license held by Ray Taylor in the event she should pu~shcs,
said business and if she could be assured that no other
licenses of this nature be granted. The Board stated they
would approved the transfer but could take no pps~tion on
the other.
It was voted to request the store owners' on Main street to dis-
play their ~lags during the Red Meus Parade.
~e Board approved the uames submitted for the Leg.~ FiPe R
police patrol with the exception of Mr. Fra~ Hardy,
same ~vi~ beeu approve~ by Chief Howes.
Mr. Otis S. Nickerson was appointed a Sp. Police on request of
Chief Howes.
~e Board went over specifications for town gPoup instance aud
voted to advertise for bids fora same, to be in on 9 ~y
5V.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session to discuss welfare matters and adjourned at
10.~0 PM.
