Minutes of the ~revious meeting were approved. _~. Harold Lindley was oresent and discussed with the Board its feelings as regards-the formation of a "Drag Club" so called for younger drivers to give them an opportunity to participate in organized races under supervision. The Board felt the idea was worthy of investigation and stated we would assist in any way possible. Mr. Carl L1 Albrecht of the ?rudentila Ins. Co. was present and discussed with the Board and Mr. Ted Kania the local Pur- dential Agent the matter of group insurance.' No action was taken by the Board at this time. Mr. John Morgan local C.D. director was present and subm:tted a list of appointees for various'CD volunteer positions which were approved by ~the Board. Mr. Harold Lindley was granted a renewal of his Innholders lic- ense at Four Chimneys and Ships Inn. Permission to han~ a sign over the street at the Ships Inn. and a perm.~t to erect a staging at Fair street. The Board approved the request of the U.S. Naval Facility to move a large mobile crane through the streets of the tov,n to the Naval base, under Police guide. Chief Bartlett of the Fire Dept. met with the Board and new Bids on Batty.were preset, ted by Island Chev. and Al's Auto. as follows: Total bid of Island Chev. for equipment,, tires batteries etc was $69V.55 Total bid of Als Auto was $V31.80 On motion made and seconded it was voted that same be awarde to the lowest bidder Island Chev. Chief Bartlett, and Board members Blair and Barrett reported on their trip to inspect fire equipment, stated that they had looked at and widden in various types of fire truck and were most favorably impressed by a LaFrance pump~er with cab forward which they inspected at the Saugus dept. . Bids were opened on the construction of bicycle stands as follows: Robert Walsh 9 stands for $250.00 MacDonald and Ross 5 stands for $220.00. It was voted that same be awarde to the lowest bidder Robert VJalsh. Alcoholic beverage renewal applications were received _f~om Willi House dba The Chicken Box restaurant; Manuel and Anna Corer dba The Snack Shop and the. Opera House and voted to take ~' ~' the course prescribed by law. The Board voted to make an inspection of, the new Hospital plant at 4PM on Friday so as to be in a position to comp~lete a state form.sent us as the Board of Health. It was brought to the attention of the Board that Some attempts were being made by the Vineyard to have the'C.G. 83 footer transferred to that island and it was voted to w~ite the Commandant protesting'this matter, and send a copy of this letter to Rep. The matter of a committee to organize the hearing ,to be h~ld by the Army Eng. on harbor improvements was discussed and it was voted to appoint l~[r. Albert Pitkin, Mr. Ernest King and Nr. Arthur Gibbs to said Committee. The Board then went into executive session: The matter of th~ necessity for a special tow6 meeting to' correct an incorrect vote on a,Ch. 90 appropriation was dis- cussed as was also the need of funds to print necessary probate forms, after discussion it was on motion made and seconded 'Voted that a Special Town meeting ,be held on Tues 9 April at Legion Hall at 8P~.f, and that the War,raut be opened and closed on this date. The m~tter of renting the' upstairs apratment to Elliot Sylvia was discussed and it was approved to rent same to him at ~40.00 per month, one months rent free to cover painting.
