Home My WebLink About1957-01-09Selectmeus ~,Ie e ting 9 January 1957 The meeting came to order at 8.50 P~i having been preceeded by a County Cormuissiouers ~,~eeting, all members of the Board being present. ~' ~ Warrant No. 2 totalling ¢¢/g?~~/ was presented by Town Acct Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. ~inutes of the previous meeting were approved. ~r. Edmund Po~ lard and a group of residents of the Brant Point area were present and discussed with the ~oard the matter of the erection of snow fence as voted by a Sp. Town meeting. After discussion with those present and Supt. of-streets Jaeckle it u~as voted to have snow fence erected at the Jetties Beach running east and west 'on both sides of the western jetty The Board discussed with Supt. of streets Jaeckle the grant of ~i:39,5V0.V~ which the town will eve,~tua!ly receive~ from the state out of the last Bond issue and how same could be used. It was decided to p!ac~ an article in the warrant allowing a portion of this money to be used as our share of this years Ch. 90 program. ~,~r. T~eodore Kania was oresent and discussed with the Board the matter of insuranc~ of tov~n and county employees and it was voted to, insert in the warrant a~question to be voted on by the voters as regards the acceotance of Ch. 3~B of the Gen. Laws. ~'ir. John ~organ'was aooointed Director of Civilian Defense to' replace i;'~r. Robert R. Leske who resigned. Island Chev. ¥,~as granted a renewal of its ~lass ~ t~sed car dea~lers license. Don Allen was gr uoed a renewal of his Class II used car dea~.ers license. ~' A letter was received from Rep. Robert I~ioouey relative to various bills which have been filed by him in the legislature. ~, On motion duly made ~and seconded it was' voted that the, v,,a~rant for the annual ~ ~ - ~own meet~_ng be closed, and t~at same be adve?tised and posted as orovided by law.
