Warrant No. I totalling ~1~,510'.57 Was~pre'sented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved b~ the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Joseph' Lamb, rodent control agent was present and gave a report on the baiting program he had carried out at the. town dump, stated it was difficult to appraise the extent of the kill inasmuch as the poisen'used kills slowly and most of the rats killed will die under cover in the dump. ~r. Matthew Jaeckle, supt. of. streets was present and went over with the Board various articles to be inserted in the town ' warrant with reference to the highway dept. and highway work. A letter was received from Atty. G~rdne~ Russell, relative to Brinton road in answer to the letter sent by the Clerk of the county commissioners to the effect that we would take no action relative to an article on this matter, and placed on file. A letter was received from ~gr. John McGlinn was received relative to steps on Chestnut street a~d it was voted to view same at ll A~'I ThurSday. D~r. Anthony Docca was granted a renewal of his Common Vict. lic. There being no fomther business the Board went into executive session to discuss a welfare matter: Welfare: The Board met with ~',~r. R~pley Nelson, Mrs James Nelson and Mrs Kath. Bragonier daughter of Fred C. Hill' and Mr. Ed. Scully, Vet. Benefits agent and discu~,sed the matter of the case of Mr. Hill. who is presently 92 years of age and at the nursing home of Nfs Nelson, it was pointed out that i~Ir. Hills funds would be exhausted in January of this year that it would be impossible to transfer him to the Island Home and give him the care necessary, and that even at the Hosp. they did not want to take him as it required additional nurses to care for him. 1,~.rs Nelson pointed out the,difficult~ es envolved in careiug for him and the fact that without proper care he could not live.'After much discussion pro and con and an explanation b !,~.rs Bragonier of her finances it was the consensus of ooin.~on that when his funds are exhausted that we would attempt to take care of his bills at Mrs Nelsm s . through the veterans bneefits agent Mr. Scully. same are estimated at ~222.20 oer week. The matter' of oroper snow equipment for the town nurses car ~was discussed and it was felt that inasmuch ss we were putti: g in an article for a new car which would probably take 14"~ ti~_ es against 15~ ou the present car that it would be impractical -at this time to purchase snow tires. Mr. Pease was appointed a comnittee of one to confer with the nurse and determine if she had chains and if not to procure some. Adj. 9.55
