The meeting came to order.at.V.30.PM all members'of th~'Board~

~r. Ch. Gerald Snow of the Nant. Gas ~ Elec. Co. was p~eseut and
~dvised the Boa~ that the Co. had petitioned the DPU fo~
~n increase f~l,thei~ Sa~ rates.
The Board disousse~ the ~tter of the politio~l calande~ and
deoided to open the annual warrant on 26 Dec. and probably
close same on 9 Janua~.
~,~r. Joseoh ambj ~odent control of Fioe~ was present and requested
that the Board close the town d~p for one week from somet~
in the afternoon till the next morning so that he might
out a baitin$ program in an effort to exterminate some of
the rats. It was voted to close the d~p from 9Pm to 10
f~om the 18th thru the 96th, to post au add to this effect
in the paper, notify looal truckman and to have a speoi~l
police office~ on duty ~t the gate from 9P~ till l0 PM

Nr. Fordyce, Clerk of the County presented a road hearing petition
for signatures by the Board as County Commissioners, relativ4
to Bionues roads and same was signed and date of hearing, set
for 9 January 57.
Edgar Orpiu, ~r. of the Wannacomet Water Co. was present
and advised the Board that no fuloride was Being added to
the local water supply, stated that calgon which has been
purified with chlorine was being added.
I~r. Nyles ~. Reis was present and requested the Board have the
road~to his garbage pit scraped. It was voted'to have the
Supt. of streets, fill the holes and put the road in good
c ondit ion.
A letter was received from the Public relations committee relativ
to the setting up of a committee to examine the matter of th.
~O0th anniversary celebration and requesting that we appoint
a member of the Board to said committee. It was voted that
I,.~.r. John L. Hardy be the Boards representative on this
committee.
A letter was re ~ived'from the town counsel advising that the
Board had been upheld iu the matter of the appeal of ~ffan-
chester dba New Ocean House, to the Supreme Court.
A petition was ~eceived from residents of lowell pl. requesting
additional street lights and it was voted to make an ex-
amination on this and other areas on F~i. at 7.80 PN with
i~r. Ryder of the Gas & Elec. Co.
A pet. for joint pole locations was received'from the Tel & Tel
and the Gas co. for locations on New St. extension in
Sconset, date for he,ring was set for ~6 Dec. ~6.
Robert R. Leske Jr. resfgued as Civil Defense Dfr. and same
was voted accepted with regrets.
Nathan Thurston and Nr. Albert Johusen were granted renewals
of their permits to transport garbage.
