HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-10-03Selectmens Meeting 3 0ct..1956 The meeting,came to order at 7.30 PM all members of the Board except Mr. Burgess being present. Warrant No. 39, totalling $13,876~8§ was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the Previous meeting were~read and approved. The Legion Post was granted a permit~for a dance on 8 0ct.~ and a special one night permit for the sale of wines and malt beverages at Legion Hall. A letter was received relative to signs designating a curve~at or near both sides of the 2nd bridge on the Madaket road and'referred to the Supt. of streets for attention. Mr. Hardy brought up the matter of the towns 300th anniversary which will'occur in 1959 and stated he felt we should begin,~ to make plans to capattlize on the publicity we could obtain along this line. Various suggestions were discussed by the board and it was Voted to refer this matter to the Public Relations Committee for activation. M~. Coffin asked if the members of the Board were satisfied with the fire'chiefs reply to our letter to him, as a~l men, ers presnet stated they were, there was no furthe~ discussion on this matter.~ The Board then went into executive session to discuss a welfare matter and adjourned at 8. 20 PM. WELFARE: The mattes or,the apt. formerly occuppied by Mrs Dennis was discussed and it was the boards~feeling that this 'apt. could not be maintained,~ that Mrs Dennis would be ~L better cared for at Our Island Home, and that if there was money available to pay rent to hold the apt. that same would bette~ be paid towards her board at the Home, and it was voted to so inform her brother who had inquired as to this subject. Chief Bartlett ~as authroized to ~send four ment to a Fire Dept. meet at Falmouth a week from Sat. ADJOURNED.
