Mr. Blount the Harbor master was present with Mr. Harmon of the DPW and Mr. Beuscher and Mr. Walters of the U. S. Army Eng. to discuss the matter of the appropriation by the Fed. Gev. and the proposed dredging in the harbor. It appeared from discussion that Fed. regulations make it mandatory to provid, disposal areas withiu~ a distance of 1500 feet, this matter was explored at some length it appearing that the only area available was just over the Eastern Jetty and this would have some effect on shellfish. It finally came down to the' question as to whether or not this work was actually needed zmzEz Mr. Blount the harbor master felt we had plenty of water in the anchorage area to take care of any vessells using the harbor, and that in his opinion money spent in theis proposed area was not needed. The matter of using the money in other areas in the harbor where all admitted it would be more desireable was discussed and the Army Rep. advised that this could not be done this money was part of an omninbus bill based on an old survey and was directed to that particular project and none other. After much discussio the matter was left with no decision the board apparently feeling that we should discuss this matter further with outh interested parteis in the town before making a final decisio M~. Hanuon discussed the matter of erosion and flooding and felt that the state could be of more assistance that' the Army Eng. and suggested that we write the Army and withdraw ou~ request for a cooperative study of this area. It was so voted. Mr. Blount the Harbor master and Mr. Crowley of the U. S. C. G. presented suggested regulations governing speed of boats water skieiug etcl in the harbor, same were discussed and it was the feeling that we should have a meeting with in- terested parties before taking any action on these. Copy of proposed regulations are attached hereto. Various letters were received f~om the Chamber of Commerece relat to discussion at the Courtesy town meeting and offering thei help in any way possible. Word was re ceived that the state reclamation board were engaged in spraying the island agains$ mosquitoes at our request.
