W~rrant No. 29, totalling ~V~649.08 was o~esented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the p~evious Eeeting were ~ead and app~0ved.
~. Ripley Nelso~in behalf 0f the Civic League was present and
discussed the program for poisen Ivy and regweed sp~aying~
which had been planned by the league. The Board authorized
Mr. Nelson to go fo~vard with this matter as in the past
and negotiate the necessary contracts for ou~ signatures.
It was voted to inse~t a proclamation iu the, papers the
as last yea~ setting aside the coming ~uth~ as ~agweekd~
elininati on month.
It was voted to contqct that state as regards sprayiug~the
state highway and also send our thanks to the Civic 'League.
A Mr. Melvin Neger was present and como!aiued'that he i~ad been,
refused first aid attention at the jetties beach, stated
he was not a patron but had falled off his bike and severely
lacerated his knee and that a friend had gone into the Jetti~
and asked for 1st aid kit and advised they had none. The
Board appointe~ the Secy to look into the matter and to
deteEuine if we should provide first aid eqz~ipment at the
beach.
Mr. V~inslow the shellfish warden reoorted that he had received
and olanted .100 bu of quahog seed and had transplanted 170
bu. of Oyster seed from Sesachahha pond. ,i,f~. VJinslow was
authorized to go to Woods Hole ~o t~ansport bass fingerlings
to the Island for planting iu Maxys pond for the Sportsmans
~ Club project.
A letter was received from Chief Howes in which he stated he did'
not approved the appoint~.~ent of Edgar Lindstrom as a Sp.
Police at the Wharf. It was voted that the reco~,,m~eudations
of the Chief be ,accepted.
Secy. Glidden report'ed that I~. McKinnon bf the DPW ~waterways div,
had reported that any extra funds' left over 'from the dredgin!
proposed in ~e harbor could not be used elsewhwere in the
harbor without another act of congress.
A request from the Mgr. of Lucky Pierre to re:o~ain open till 2AM
was not approved.
A letter was rece",~ed from Bertha Hayden relative to lines ou the
street and filed. ,.
The Civic League was granted 'a perT.~it to sell tickets for a garde:
to~ to be held on July 24-25-26th. '-~
A letter was received frown the Sup. of stree2s'requesting a
transfer of 500.00 to traffic markings and 1500.00 to side-
walk repairs, it was voted to request info.nation s s to
esti~-~te of needs for said sidewalk repairs.
Walter C. Knott was ~granted' a U0 parking sign on Husse¥ st. et
his garage d~iveway, and a sign at the driveway of J. J. Cis
on Bloom street was voted renewed.
A lette~ froz.~ Senator Stnne was received reactive to the dredgiu
in the harbor proposed by the U.S. Gov.
