Warrant NO. P. 5, totalling $35,58~.88 was'presented by Town Acct. 'Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. ~.Iinutes of the previo~ meeting were approved. Nr. John Santos of Siasc0nset presented two petitions to the Boarc signed by various sconset residents. One requested that the resignation of ~t~. Ernest Coffin as Deputy Chief at Sconset be not accepted and the other requested that 2 hose carts removed from Codfish Park and the Beach House respectively by the Fire Chief be returned. It was pointed out that these matters were under the jurisdiction of the Chief and that all we could do was hold a hearing if we had a complaint as ~egards his ~ndliug of the dept. N~. Roland N. Cgffiu state~ that they would make the matter of the hose ca~ts a c~plain~l and it was consequently afte~ discussion Voted to hold a hea~ing on this matte~ F~i. evening at 8PN and to noti~ the Fire Chief and the To~ Counsel to be p~esent. Nr. Roland N. coffin ca~etake~ of the Sconset d~p repo~ted'that the Navy's la~ge bulldozer had come do~.to the d~p and done an excellent job of cleaui~ the a~ea up, and it was voted to send the Boards thanks to the co~anding office~. Charles Sayle was present and complained as regards the cars speeding about town and asked when the speed laws were goir~ to be enforced. Nr. Oscar Nichetti stated that he felt that better enforcement would be had if the ~fficers patrolled o~ foot rather than by cruiser. C. Gerald Snow ~gr. of the Gas & Elec. Co. ]',~r. Ch. Whelton of that Co. ~{r. Phelan of Coppers Ins. and Supt. of streets Jaeckle were present and discussed with the Board the matter of the road mix being produced with gas plant tar. After much discussion it was the sense of the meeting that cue more. test be made with this material which the engineers stated was now a good product, and that' if this test was not satisfactory we would return to asphalt. The matter of the bids on the generator for the police and fire depts was discussed and it was voted that all beids be returned un-opened and that the matter be returned to the chiefs of the police and fire depts along with the wiere inspector to re-w~ite. A ~ecozm~endstion.from-the transportation committee offering the name of Robert S.~ Backus for appointment bo the Steamship Authority to replace Nr. Chase who is resigning was rec- eived and tabled at this time. The C.A.P.'was granted a permit for a dance at Nobadeer Rest. on Sat . 23 June 9 to 12. Nr. Frank Viera was granted a trxi license An application from Sea Cliff Iuu for a renewal of its seasonal all alcoholic inuholders license was received and voted to take the course prescribed by law.
