HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-05-09 Selectmens Me'e t lng 9 May 1956 The..meetiug Came to order at 9.30 pM all members of the Board'~ being present and having first met as County Co~nissioners. Warrant No. 19,~ totalling~$22,295.62 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approv.ed by the Board. ~ Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. I~I.r.' i~!yles Reis was present and discussed with the Board ~ne matter of licenses for gargabe collection. An~opinion was receivedI f.rom the Tovrn Counsel that due to a change in the State Law in 1946 and various cases decided since then that the Board must grant licenses to anyone who meets with rea- sonable Health regulations set by the Board. After discussion it was decided to look into the matter of our existing regulations, determine what additional were needed and to take uo action ou the pending application of Mr. Thurston and E. Ir. Johnson at this time. Ernest Coffin was designated by the Board to .repair and set up the Sconset Playground equipment as in previous year. A ~equest was received from tlne Capt. of the 83 footer DG craft stationed at Steamboat Wharf requesting use of Fire Alarm signal to recall men. Same was referred to Chief Of the Dept . A ~ The U. S Army Eng. advised that they had approved the ncnorage area in Nantucket Harbor as requested by the Board and Harbor Maste~. ~illie House dba Chicken Box Rest. was granted a renewal of his Juke Box License. Robert Clark dba 0raura driving range was granted a Soft dri~ license. F.rauk Sylvia, for the Ialda.r Inc. requested permit to hang a sign and awning, same was tabled awaiting advices from the Historic Dist.ricts Cor~ission. IJr. Robert Backus E~ZX~ZEZX requested'a permit to transport garbage to a private dump at Wauwinet and same was tabled until site could be inspected. The Roberts House was granted a re~newal of their Iunholde.rs Lic. ~ne meeting Adj. at ll PM. Secy.
