Minutes 0f the p~evious meeting were read and approved.~ Mr.~ Arthu~ Davis, local registry inspector in 'be~lf of the Registry of Moto~ Vehicles presented to the Board and Chief Howes a safety award fo~ the year 1954. Atty Gardner Russell spoke relative t0 pstitions of clients of his, haply George Tompson and Marie B.~G~eene for pe~ission to erect ~ timber g~oins at thei~ N. Sho~e property to prevent shore erosion. Notices of said applications were on file from the DPW and the Board stated they had no objections to this~ work. ~, ~ ~ M~. Ripley Nelson in behalf of ~he Civic league reported on the completion' of the poisen ivy and ~agweek spraying pmogram and submitted the approved bill of Mr. Pope who had done the s p~aying. A~Mp.' 0berlander, and Eng. fop the CAA consulted with the Board relative to a lease of ~ights in some tov~ property in the vicinety of the ~daket towers -NP. 0berlaud was requested to d~aw up the uecessamy papers,and pmoposal and submit same to board fop checking by the Town Co-nsel and approval of the Board. Rowl~y was on ~ecommendation of Chief Howes app0inted'a Sp.~Police office~, ,to serve as watchman at the~ New Ocean House. ~ ~, Mr. Langdon~Barnes w~ote~elati~e to a sign at Garden Court and same was ~efer~ed to the Supt. of st~eet~ j~ Mrs~George Christian w~ot~ ~eq~esting permissionS'to erect an old iron hitching post on Walnut lane and asking relative'to a no pa~king area. It was voted to approve the hitching post and ~efe~ the matter to the Supt~ of streets fo~ approval as to location. ~ ' ~, It w~s ~epo~ted that d~p ca~'etak~ Le~{s was confined to the HosPital and the Board approved I~.~ Adolph 0ttison serving as caretaker du~ing M~. Lewises illness. Town Counsel Sauguinetti discussed~the~ status +of ~butte~s ways with the Board with particular reference to the ~ay. off B~oad- way sconset and to ~e no~th of p~ope~ty of a M~s Bawden. No action was taken on this matter at this~time it being felt that the p~oper p~o~edu~e would be to obtain a vote of the town as to whether o~ not said ways should be laid out and accepted. The Board si~ned an answer prepared by Town Counsel to the w~it of certiorar~ in ~e the New Ocean Ho~e maEte~.
