The meeting came to order at 8 PM all members of the Board
being present.
Warrant No. 3~- totalling $28,088.35 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of' the pre~ious meeting were read and approved.
A petition was received asking the paving and widening of Quidn
Mr. Franklin Bartlett commente~ on the sign at the Town
drainage lot on Pleasant street and the Board voted to look
into same. ~v ~, ~,
A letter Was received from Senato~ Stone thanking the Board
for its previous letter to him, on the Historic Districts
Commission Bill. ~ ~,
The Civil Service Dept. advised t hat thetr were setting ap
an examination for the Nant. Police De~t. and forwarded a
fo~m of poster fo~ the Boards approval. ~ame was checkdand
approved with the Chief of Police.
Mr. Sanguinetti Tov~Counsel advised thab as regards ou~
'question on Auctioneers licenses that one holding a state
license could ~ auction anywhere in the state so long as he
did not transport goods from place to place."
Tov~ Counsel also advised that as ~rega~ls the' ~alidity~ Of'
the
v~ on the sidewalk at She ~w ~g~-~chool-that~ in'his
opinion same was a legal vote. On motion made and ~seconded
it was voted to award the contract fo~ construction of same
to the Nant. Const. Co. the lowest bidder, N~. Burgess being
recorded Quote"As wanting to go on record as being opposed to g
against the opinion of Mr. Dine the State Director of Accounts,
end of quotes.
A letter was received from the Cm~andant of ~the let Naval Diet
as regards heay t~ucking on our streets and advising that he
was checking on the matter of beach landings of further equip.~

· 'The Planning Board advised~hat a ,Rep.' from the State Dept. fo
Comme~ce was to meet with them F~i. at 8.~0 PM and invited
any of the Boa~d interested to attend.

chief Howes was P~esent and formall~-requested that the Boa~d~ ~
request the~transfer of $2~000 from the ,Reserve Fund to the
Police Dept. for the purpose of putting on additional men to
enforee bicycle and other regulations. It was voted to so
~equest the finance committee,.
The Board then went into executive' session and discussed the
following matters:
It was voted to change the regulations on the Comme~rcial Shell
fish regulations-to add that quahogs in' inland waters shll be
taken by hand digging only. ~_
It was voted to'remove the stop sign at New St. in sconset and
establish two stop signs at the same intersection one on School
stret and one'on Sankaty Ave.
· It was voted to w~ite Mrs King at' the Womans Comfort station
