Barrett and checked and approved by the, Board. MinUtes of the~ previous ~eeting were read a~nd approved. ~ Mrs Wm. B0Wne of Commercial Wharf was prese~nt~ and ~complainted t¢ the Board as regards sanatiary conditions at the Hutchinson ~ Cottage on Commercial Wharf. The Board voted to write M~s Hutch- inson a letter as regards t his matter. M~ ~Ripley Nelson in behalf of the 'CiVic League presented~ the ,~ Board with certified copi~e~ of the Historic Districts Commission Bill and suggested that letters of thanks be sent to Rep. Barnes and Senator Stone~ for their help and assistance as regards same and,it was so voted. ,~ ~, Bids were received and opened'on the const~ction of the new sidewalk at the High School as follows: ~Seddon Legg $6,190.40 Nant. Const Co. $5,920.00 ~it was voted that the .o.~tr~ct~be awarded to the lowest bidder the Nant.~Const. Co. but Mr.' Burges brought up the matter of the'legality of the vote~ and stated that he had a letter from M~.~ Dine the Director of Accounts to ~ the effect that said vote aY the Spj town meeting was illegal. Secy. Glidden advised that he had on receipt of said letter conferred with the offi~ce of the Director of Accounts and that Mr. L~ng had advised that it was per£ectly proper~ in view of the fact that the Finance Committee recommendations had been prope~.l~ advertised. The matter Was referred tb ~the Tov~ Counsel for opinion and the awarding of the contract was held up pending receipt of this opinion .... The Board Went over with SupS· of streets Jaeckle the~mat~ers ~ to be ~discused at the annual county hearing on 26 Aug. with ~ the Commissioners, of Public Works. Supt.' Jaeckle suggested that we'ask for the following: 'Bond Issue Work: ~Quidnet ~Road $--60,000 and Cliff Rd. $47,000; Ch.~ 90 Milk St. Est. $18,000 and Monomoy Rd. 40,000;'Ch 90 maintenance $5,000. ~ I ~ letter was received ~from Mrs Dustman protesting the sidewalk at Brenton~Rd~but as the walk had already been constructed this was filed. , L. M~.~ Richard Bourne of Hyannis~equ&sted~the Boards' a~pr0val of his auctioning off effects of,the estate of Anne Ring. It was voted to request an opinon of the town counsel~ on this matte. Christian D. schell ~equested"street lights on Commercial street stating the area was extremely dark.
